If I understand how it works properly... Since I'm new to this too... You message your assigned person, ask them how many books they want you to pick for them, they tell you how many, you pick that number of books from the books they have listed on their "want to read" shelf (paying particular notice of books they've had on there for some time) and the person is supposed to try and read those books during the month. In the meantime, you'll go through the same thing with someone messaging you.

So, in the case of this month: you send me a private message here on Goodreads, I tell you how many books I want to read. You pick that many from my list. I do the same thing with Oda, who then does the same thing for you. Then we read the books that were picked for us.

I've read one of my books, so here's my review:

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


This is the kind of creepy fairy tale that reminds you that the stories we know today had much darker origins than they do in most retellings. I wasn't sure what to think of either the plot or the main character for the first couple of chapters, but started to like both as I got further in to the book, and soon found myself enjoying reading it so much I didn't want to put it down. I don't feel I can give it the full five stars. After all, it took me a couple of chapters to really get in to it. But I do think it's a really great read, and recommend it to those who enjoy the darker side of fairy tales.

I ended up dnf-ing

I gave it 110 pages.
Usually I love time travel, and the protagonist was not unlikable. The book was just a whole blob of meeh for my taste.

Yes it has that going for it. I read another book by that author earlier I liked it better but dident love it either.

I tend to prioritize books for challenges, books I'm spacifically supposed to be reviewing, etc, so read those first, to make sure they're done on time. I don't like being late with things that have spacific dates to be done by. The other books I have to read can't have their reviews put up until later in the month, so I thought I'd read the ones for this challenge first.

Well, to be honest, that's only partially true. I do read faster than some people, plus my writing being my only job helps, because it means I don't have to juggle my writing and reading around another job, which gives me a bit of extra reading time than many people have. But I will admit there are times when I'm procrastinating, so reach for a book to read instead of working on the one I'm meant to be writing. And, yeah, I'm doing that a lot right now.

hehe! I understand completely.
It feels a bit weird for me atm, I`m looking for jobs but I dont have anything that I "have to do" so I do read a lot lately. Feels weird not procastinating just simply reading.

I finished my other book last night, so here's my review:

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

My rating: 4 of 5 stars


This book is a 3.5 star read for me, but I rounded up. Anyway, for the most part I thought it was a fun read, filled with plenty of mystery and magic, as well as a dash of romance. But I found the way it jumped about in the timeline confusing at first, though it wasn't so bad once I got to know the characters properly.

Huh interesting. I read this a few years ago. Really isent my style. I thought there was too much talk to little actual plot. And yea the different timelines dident help

I didn't mind the more talking than plot thing so much. It was the timeline thing that spoiled it for me. That was really confusing, at least until I really got to know the characters.

Yeah, that is just uni tbh! I thought I would have some time off, but we got surprised with even more work. I only have exams to work on in November, so I really hope to have more time to read. Then if not.. December will be my month. :)
