Hi everyone I'm looking forward to getting started on moderating this discussion. As the book is split into three parts I thought I would split the discussion into three parts so I suggest that we read to the following schedule

Oct 1st-10th - Wait
Oct 11-20th - Snap
Oct 21st - 31st - Go

Of course you can read at any rate that you want but I will be framing the discussion to this schedule.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it earlier this year. I've since bought the other 2 books and I'm hoping to get to them soon.

I didn't really care for the first part of "Wait". It was very info dumpy and at times it kinda seemed like a how-to/sales pitch. It starts to pick up toward the end of that section though and I couldn't put it down!

I listened to this on audio, and I also read it on kindle. Did anyone think that it was extremely slow, especially in the beginning? Anyone feel bored or forced to finish?

I'm reading this one, and it's definitely dark. I'm enjoying it very much so far!

I'm enjoying it so far. I don't mind a slow build up while we get to know the characters. I've only just noticed that the second section Snap is really short so I'm thinking of revising the optional reading section as follows:

1st-14th - Wait
15th - 31st - Snap & Go

What do you think?

I thought this book was pretty short in general. What about yall. I read on kindle, and I listened on audio. While I thought it was slow, the audio time for listening was pretty short. Did anyone else listen on audio while reading?

Yeah I'm finding it a quick read mostly due to the short chapters. I finished 'Wait' today and I'm finding it okay so far.

Does anyone know anything about the author? Her website is clear that she's a woman, but there's a lot about the writing and the author's presentation that seem a little fishy. (And I don't mean that in a slut shaming way, but rather in a these-pieces-don't-add-up kind of way.)

That's interesting Summer do you mind elaborate what you found strange?

It's clear to me that she wants to distance these books from her romance novels as she has a different publisher and is using her initials where she uses her full name for the romance novels but I think there are definitely times where she fell back on romance tropes and I rolled my eyes! Before I started this book I didn't know that the author normally writes romance or that this book would contain some of those elements.

I don't object to the explicit scenes. I found the 'cam' scenes very interesting but there were other scenes to do with the romance that I found to be ridiculously unrealistic (I don't want to go into these on the non-spoiler thread but I think I will duplicate this message on the spoiler thread to elaborate). It's just not my genre.

I saw some of the Goodread reviews about HEAs and weighing up the values of the 'hero' and it's like a different language to me!

I’m about 70% convinced the author is male and has hired a woman to play the author for advertising/interview/promo purposes. There are some really weird word choices that a woman would almost never make, some odd pearl clutching around certain sexual acts that I don’t think a woman would balk as much at, and some other bits both in the writing and the author’s advertising that read a lot more male than female. Something just feels a little bit off.

I think Summer may be correct. Although the scenes with Annie and Deanna felt more feminine to me. As a woman who has read erotica, I found it odd that a woman who writes erotica would write/make the choices the author did. Also, nearly every picture of her is the same pose superimposed on another background. ?

That's so interesting. I don't read much erotica or romance so I'm not overly familiar with how anyone would write these sort of scenes.

I read the second book this month and I feel like she gets more in touch with her feminine side in that one. But thinking back, we got so much detail about fetishes, camming, and how she manages to stay locked up in her apartment but I don't remember it mentioning her taking time to do hair/makeup or anything like that. Maybe that's not a thing? I feel like if you're a successful cam girl then you have to put some effort into your appearance.


I have to say, I really liked Deanna as a character. I don't read a lot of romance/erotica, but I'm not a fan of the overly dramatic/whiney female character. I can relate to Deanna in the way that she's not a soft, cuddly, warm fuzzy person. Not that I'm a homicidal maniac or anything but lol.

Good point, Tonya. I kept waiting for some talk about fitness or working out, particularly given her line of work, and there definitely should've been some mention about grooming/beauty.

I think I do remember mention of working out but nothing beyond something like sit ups or something like that. To maintain the body she is purported to have you would definitely need to be doing some proper resistance training and probably cardio with a machine.

And yes, no mention of grooming. Does she wax herself? Cut her own hair?

It would have been interesting to hear about one of her boring "off" days when she would take care of things like that. But she mentioned several times that she wasn't as strong as she thought she was. Like when she attacked Jeremy and he easily overpowered her. I feel like she should have had some strength in her arms though. Even just from camming and maintaining certain positions. Especially since that was basically the only thing she does all day every day.

I'm sure she either waxes or does some type of hair removal cream. I would be terrified to cut my own hair.
