The book is set in Scandinavia, and the DNA of my family shows high traces (over 50% ) of Scandinavian heritage

Did you sign up for a task for this one? I didn't see it anywhere else and wanted to make sure I removed it if it was reserving another task. I put it in for 2015 a book that made you cry.

Made the change to 2017 movie.

No, I didn’t.
I asked for these two tasks, but neither my questions, neither my completion post was in the popsugar thread. This is due to my internet acting up the past days. i have been check8ng everywhere what went through and what not.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón is yet to disappoint me. Although this book is one of his lowest rated on Goodreads, I really enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars. It had all the elements I have come to expect from him as a writer.

- 2015: A book at the bottom of your to-read list (oldest on TBR): Bitterbitch
An intense book about the inequality between women and men, about growing pains on becoming a first mom and the reality that motherhood isn't all pink and sunshine. A personal eye - opener.
- 2016: A book recommended by a family member: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
It was such a pleasure to re - read this book! I didn't know that I forgot so much about it and it annoyed me that I was comparing it with the movie. I found clues to events that I haven't found before, so that was also interesting.
The books made me think of the books of 'The worst witch' from Jill Murphy. Her books are for younger children who wants to read Harry Potter later.
Harry Potter - books stands for a generation readers who grew up with it and I'll think we'll never forge that. It's a part of us.

2015 - A nonfiction book: A History of the World in 6 Glasses
Very interesting history, starting with beer. I had no idea it was such a bit part of civilization and currency. The audiobook was good, but there are some pictures in the physical book which were nice to see. No humor thrown in to make it more enjoyable... a dry history lesson.
2015 - A book that came out the year you were born (1957): The Midwich Cuckoos.
I found the story to be familiar, and then realized the movies, Village of the Damned were based on it. Great movies! The book was much better than I expected. Very glad I finally got around to reading it.

I gave this one 4 stars. It was a quick read for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but that's okay. Sometimes it doesn't have to turn out exactly like I want it to.

Great book! Spooky and thought provoking - brilliantly written. Perfect for the time of year (5 stars!)
Told you I've been spoiled this week!

Thumbs Up! ^

Bold Reformer: Celebrating the Gospel-Centered Convictions of Martin Luther
It was pretty good, but not as good as the reviews I read before buying said it would be. Oh well.

2016 - A book you haven’t read since high school (this would be a reread): The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman.
I still love this series so much. Seeing Lyra and Will evolve throughtout the book is very interesting. The pacing is really good too in my opinion and keeps you on your toes at all time.

I chose it solely on the author's name and the fact that I could download the ebook from my library. It was really fun though, and now I want to read the sequel.

Although this book is Pendergast #14, it is actually my 16th book of this series for the year. I am so glad that my library hold on the audio book came free for me to download it and have a "spot" on the toppler. I have already read the next two series books, so I will be reading book #17 next.

Kind of strange. The future looks terrifying...and I'm afraid for myself. Hope I am gone before this future arrives for real.

2017 about an immigrant or refugee A Commonwealth of Thieves: Improbable Birth of Australia. The custodians, most often, were worse than the condemned.
2018 A past Goodreads Choice Awards winner Eleanor & Park. Heartbreaking!

So historically exact in places and overly dramatic in others. I'm just loving this series.

I wasn't enchanted with this book and gave it only 2 stars. I know times were different, but some of the themes were a bit dark for children. I much preferred the Disney animated movie.

I think that's the 3rd or 4th time I've read this delightful story. It's one of my favorite Jane Austen books. I wonder if there are any fanfic stories of this work.

Probably good for middle school readers but the message was beaten over the head too much for adults.

I am so glad I finally got it done and can add it to my yearly challenge task.
It was an awesome story. I really loved the way it was told in each character's own unique voice/POV. It is an amazing story and really made me think about our "civilized" views about Africa and what they need vs what they get/got.
There were times that I really felt bad about being an American, knowing what our government did after the Belgians pulled out in 1960.
