I don't remember the year I read it (possibly 2015/16) but I do know she was in high school, I can't remember why she stopped talking she just did. And her stopping in this guy's garage become a part of her normal running routine. He thought it was strange at first but eventually became ok with it, he would offer her a water or soda when she would stop by to watch him . This is a book I read on my Kindle.

I can't remember anything about a garage, but Margaret Mahy's The Other Side of Silence is about a young girl who stopped talking and goes for long walks/runs.
