John | 2 comments Hello, I’m John. I’ve been a member of your group for a year now, and believe I’ve failed to introduce myself. An appalling dereliction, I agree. From a career in design engineering, once the mortgage was paid, I took early retirement and with a large garden/orchard have become almost self sufficient: my responsibilities at present rest with a small group of not-so-able hedgehogs. The neighbours became aware that I was caring for a hog with one-eye and a hospice seemed to blossom from there. Returning to university, I read history and that led me to such works as: The Great Game - The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia, On Secret Service East of Constantinople - The Plot to Bring Down the British Empire, and the like; all of which gripped me and I class as exceptional thriller/suspense/mysteries. My grandmother on my mother’s side was White Russian and as youngster she left Russia in 1921 under the care of her father and mother - her father was killed in Ukraine - and she made the crossing from France to Blighty with her mother in November of 1923: from their accounts the journey across Europe was most harrowing. My mother has the family book and the the dairies of both her grandparents - I have often thought of creating a manuscript from those, but feel unqualified and not able to do justice to their story. There is no mention in my great-grandparent’s memoirs of escape lines and safe houses, but my grandmother, during her later years with what she excused as her failing memory, often spoke of ‘the kindest of people’ and how they are the only reason she survived. I spend time researching escape-lines, underground networks and life-in-the shadows. I won’t claim a need to find evidence of who might have helped my grandmother, as I am content with a desire to more fully understand the ways and means by which many sought to resist oppression even in the face of the great risk to them and their family. I yearn for well-researched, real-life thrillers focused on 20th Century Europe.

Moises Silva (linoesilva) | 1 comments Hi there!

My first book as a solo author is just out and I would love to get some advice on how to let others know about it?

The publication has received strong endorsements, including one from Wendy Brown: “Lino e Silva’s remarkable book fulfills its ambition to decolonize the freedom at liberalism's heart. Equal parts erudite political theory and delicate anthropology, it roams a favela in Rio for stories and imaginaries across Blackness, queerness, gender and class, where it discovers everywhere the bubbling of minoritarian desires and practices of freedom. This beautifully written work does nothing less than bring liberalism--as theory and practices--into the 21st century.”

Much appreciated,

Moises

It sounds interesting Moises and I wish you well for your new book. For what it's worth I have a few book promo ideas that may help. Feel free to connect with me so I can forward my ideas privately here on Goodreads.

I am afraid that the divergent acts that lead to violence will continue. For more, while trying to be humble (a lost postmodern virtue) look at djrobosn.ca

Luis Trivino | 1 comments Hello Everyone.
I'm Luis Trivino I am American Indian/Hispanic, a War Veteran, Father and Husband.
My wife has Border Line Personality disorder (BPD), PTSD, Depression and Anxiety. I suffer from PTSD and Bipolar I. My wife went through some delusional states when she had a change in her medicines, the stress of trauma therapy and anxiety all took hold of her at once causing a BPD Split. During this whole phase she asked how I could love her and be married to someone "So broken?".
In response during a Bipolar manic while trying to control and avoid my PTSD triggers I wrote a book in 23 hours detailing all of my traumas and how I strive to work at being normal since I was a child. My wife said we have a "Notebook of Love" so I write in hopes my notebook of love will bring her back to reality. That's why it is titled as "A Notebook of Love: My story on Mental Health".
I write it from a Male perspective. We men grow up as young boys being told "Be strong, be a man". When we run into stressful situations we lack the tools to solve problems. In turn it affects our mental well being, our relationships, and leads to violence, addiction and the list can go on. Simply because we are being dismissed as "He is a man, he will figure it out". because if this mentality are men be a a major issue in relationships? Is being a man another way of saying he is a narcissist?
As I go through my whole story from my beginning to my present I detail everything with my self analysis and exercises I have learned to "Be normal". With all of this I wish to promote the decriminalization of any mental illness, encourage men to make their mental health a priority to better ourselves, our relationships and community.

In order to break the stigma we have to bring it all into the open, including us men.

Thank you

Luis

Florian Dreveskracht | 1 comments Hello, I'm German and I just discovered that Goodreads has proper discussion groups on various topics like this one (unlike the German offshoot where you can only host giveaways and book reviews). Originally I'm only registered here for business, but when I see this I'll definitely have a look around in these interesting threads.

My profile logo stands for 'Novus Ordo'; but this refers first to the "New Order of the Ages" (Novus ordo seclorum), not to the "New world order" NWO. Actually, the logo consists of an aleph (ℵ), the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which corresponds to our Latin 'A'. And then there's a zero attached to it. – But aleph-zero and novus ordo mean the same thing in this case.

Olli Pietilä | 7 comments Hi, my name is Olli Pietilä.
While I am interested in a wide range of unpopular topics, as a Finnish person I would like to discuss the issue of Russian war. As Finland seems to be joining Nato, the question inevitably arises whether we shook hands with the devil and by doing so dug our own graves?
I couldn't see a thread about this but I would like to hear some of the thoughts, especially from Americans, about some of the absurdities of the situation with the war.

It is a common mindset that Russia bad America good. I can't but hesitate to make such a strong division between the good and the evil. I am a strong believer that nobody is purposefully evil. Is Russia planning on conquering the world, or are they truly worried about their own citizens well-being due to American invasion ever more closer to their territory?

Putin says he is worried about his nations safety, the Western countries say that he is lying and he is really aiming to conquer other countries. I believe the mystery about the war rests on the one question I have not witnessed being taken seriously: Is Putin lying or not? Isn't this a topic that we should put more focus on? Is Putin a man of his words, or is he a power hungry lunatic who wants to rule them all? He is not a stupid man, but is he a greedy one?

If he speaks the truth, then the Finnish people are signing their own death sentence due to the unanimous majority wanting to join NATO. If he is lying, that would most definitely be the better option. So our decision is based on our unexamined assumption about Putin being a liar. You see, this question is possibly a matter of life and death for me.

I know I might get some heat for this, you guys love your country. I love it it too, it has many great qualities. However, you have to admit that the government is not always your friend nor a trustworthy entity, not the current one at least.

My apologies for making this introductonary message this long, but I am eager to hear your thoughts. I am a new Goodreads user, and if this discussion feed is wrong for this type of topic, I would appreciate if somebody could direct me to a more adequate place.

Darya Silman (geothepoet) Olli Pietilä, hello from Estonia which has already joined NATO.

As Russian by nationality but who was born and raised in Estonia and consider Estonia her homeland, I've been investigating the topic of American-Russian relationship since the start of the war in Ukraine. I'm certain joining NATO was a positive thing: Russia doesn't dare to attack any NATO members directly. On the other side, Estonian media stopped to flame local anti-Russian tendencies in fear of a possible Russian invasion.

message 1062: by Paul (new)

Paul Clayton | 2 comments Hello, Olli. I'm an older American with some perspective. I have always believed in and trusted my government, but not any more. Whoever is running America (and it is not the President and the congress) seems bent on breaking it, and also destroying Russia. For the last eight years Russia and Putin have been demonized by leftist politicians here. It has been unrelenting. If Putin and Russia were a threat to America, why is he and Russia not in Mexico (like China is) or in Africa (like China is)? Why are thousands of Americans living in Russia? Why have American scientists and astronauts been rocketing to the International Space Station on Russian rockets? Makes no sense. I think that Putin sees what is happening in the U.S. and wants to protect his people from that. America is no longer a bastion of democracy or a light to the world, in my opinion. Our nation is being flooded with illegal immigrants, a race war is being stirred up, people with unpopular opinions are being muzzled, the institution of the family is being attacked, same with marriage, same with traditional religions. The same corrosion has infected the Western European states as well. I don't blame Putin for wanting to protect his people from these terminal trends.

The politics closer to your home, I am not on the ground so I don't really know for sure. But it looks to me like Putin and Russia want to have friendly states surrounding them, 'buffer states,' if you will, so that NATO can not get too close.

A few points because I know my opinion is probably in the minority on this site... First of all, I served my country in uniform in Vietnam in 1968. I love my country, land, people, traditions (the ones we still hold). But after paying attention for such a long while, I have come to believe that there is a layer of power above the people we elect (or who are appointed by rigged elections). Who are these people? They seem to be faceless as the media are not interested in identifying them and their goals.

I am an old man now, no longer a wide-eyed innocent, and I believe that the country I now live in is not the one I was born into. The U.S. seems to have morphed into something dark and corrupt. I pray that Americans can retake the reins of power and turn things around. Until then I can understand other independent countries on the planet not wanting to be corrupted and ruled by it.

Best to you!

Just i.m.o. all politicians speak on their own behalf (or their Puppet Masters) there is so much more to this world you can't begin to try to even know where to start?
The U.N. and N.A.T.O. are not what they seem nor is W.H.O. or any organisation. I don't believe Putin is what he is painted to be but all must make up their own minds.
Putin and the U.S,A. are involved together in space programs so what is the truth??
Seriously do some research both here and alternative books too. What Paul states in his last two paragraphs were totally right and it's not the only country, a small elite run, it's the majority of the world and they want it all!
Klaus Swab (World Economic Forum) recently stated "you will have (or own) nothing and be happy"...oh oh.....
Enjoy your time here Olli don't hold back!.

Scott Welcome Olli!

I definitely think we could use a thread dedicated to the Ukraine situation.

I immediately distrusted the news about Russian and Ukraine. After 2+ years of shoving fake virus down our throats, a year of nationwide riots & destruction (insurrection) described as peaceful and a tiny little demonstration described as insurrection, it is a reflexive reaction. Our previous president had amicable relations with Putin and the people in control now have been hard at work reversing everything he did. Now we must hate Putin and Russia. Just a short while ago the same news stations described Ukraine as a fascist nation with a "nazi problem." But in typical 1984 fashion no one remembers yesterday's news.

But there were a handful of them here, some of them young and new friends.

Hello, I am Luffy, an atheist who was born a Hindu. I'm from Mauritius. Generations of inbreeding have given me a dorky and unflattering look. Lauren Dove | 7 comments Hi Undergrounders! I’m Lauren Dove from Australia. 18 years ago I had a career in admin and my passion was all things design-related. My life changed when I became interested in understanding fundamental physics. I came across a little-known cosmogony written by Walter and Lao Russell known as ‘Russellian Science’ which I studied along with mainstream cosmology.

After a few years of study, I made ‘describing the unified theory’ my goal. I wanted to find the crux of the problem that was preventing the world from having a unified theory. And… I made a breakthrough! I was able to describe the missing geometry and mathematics of the electric wave that science needs.

This year I published my book: ‘The Design Equation - The Unified Theory and the Mathematics of Hidden Dimensions.’ It’s available through my website: www.theunifedtheory.com

Teaching science founded upon the unified theory will mean that great progress can be made in all fields of science, -but there is a problem. Much of the unified theory is Russellian Science, which differs in many significant ways from current mainstream theories. This, combined with conventional thinking and commercialism, has made it difficult for me to get my work noticed by mainstream physicists.

Undergrounders, I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me to spread awareness of this important and exciting breakthrough. The only ways the world will solve its global crises is for science to be founded upon the unified theory, and for the unified theory to become mainstream teaching.

I look forward to taking part in discussions and answering any questions on this topic.

Thank you all.

DANIEL SCHNAIDER (danielschnaider) | 2 comments Hi everyone,

Do you recommend any books that analyse how cultures are developed over time and specially the case for changing culture.

For instance, a culture that doesn't value education and how to make a large scale change in how people value certain things.

Another example is countries that don't value life so much, so they don't become outraged with so many accidents, as if it was destinity or something immutable

Last, is corruption. Take Latin America countries that accept corruption as a given, something that can't be changed and will never change, because things were always like this. You can't fight the system, and yet, what history teaches us about cultural change?

thanks,

Daniel

Martin our Mind Control thread would be a good starting point...
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... -- in particular the MK-Ultra discussion thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

These links primarily highlight US involvement in mind control initiatives, but I imagine the Americans would have swapped notes with the Brits and other allies given it was wartime.

I digress, but I also came across a true WWII story...
A friend suggested I write a book on the wartime adventures of his pilot brother-in-law whose NZ Air Force plane was shot down in the Pacific.
The pilot and one or two crewmembers ended up in the water and found themselves the target of a hungry shark.
A school of dolphins intervened, swimming fast in a tight circle around the fliers to discourage the shark. This lasted several hours until the fliers were rescued by a US patrol boat.
Unfortunately the rescuers thought the dolphins were sharks and shot several of them despite frantic signaling from the fliers.
True story.

Happy New Year.

My first book reveals the ancient mystery of the Audible Life Stream. It's a concept that transcends religion. My book provides evidence of the Audible from various sources, including ancient texts, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences and science.

Deirdra Eden (deirdraeden) | 1 comments Hi Friends,
My name is Deirdra Eden and in 2021 my husband and I moved to a ghost town (full of wild cats) in one of the coldest and most remote locations in the lower 48. We bought an abandoned church, and we are turning it into our dream home, including the MOST EPIC LIBARAY built for both humans and CATS! Here is a video about the library remodel with before and after pics: https://youtu.be/B6FqDPJjsbc
If you follow me on YouTube you can see all the remodeling and adventures including when we were hit by a tornado, flood, blizzard, and plague of frogs. https://www.youtube.com/c/DeirdraEden...
I am also an author, and I am finishing the last book in The Watchers Series. The “Watchers” are supernatural beings in human form, charged with protecting mankind from the armies of darkness.
This allegorical journey is written in traditional fairytale style with engaging, down-to-earth, yet supernatural characters. There is someone for everyone to identify with and come to love, hate, and recognize in our own modern-day life through the victories and heartache of our human experiences.
Last year I signed a contract with a publisher in Los Angeles, CA. USA and got an agent to represent me for cinematic publication (a movie deal).
I also have two book trailers that you can check out on my website here: http://www.astorybookworld.com/p/the-...

I hope you enjoy my story and will consider friending or following me.

Hi Deidra and welcome to the group. Congrats on your library remodel - and on scoring a publishing contract! Am envious of your library and your house on the prairie. (I suggest fellow Undergrounders view the video). For those colonialists like myself who live Down Under (in NZ), where in the world is the lower 48?

Vandana Raj | 5 comments Hi everyone, my name is Vandana. I'm not sure what is going on in the world! I've been religious/spiritual all my life and often see dreams. Some of them have given me insight of the future in my personal life. I've recently seen a series of apocalyptic dreams. Initially, I thought to keep it to myself but as I researched further on the topic, I decided to put all the details in a book. Have you seen any prophetic dream recently? Here's the link to my book, if you'd like to check it out, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZ2T6398/...
