Jeffrey Radon My name is Jeffrey Radon, and I am the author of the book Reconciling A Contradictory Abraham: On The Orthoprax And Anti-Theological Nature Of The Hebrew Bible (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...). The book deals with a central question relating to 2 stories of Abraham that stand out in the Bible - the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and the story of the binding of Isaac. The question that I deal with is - how can the very same Abraham who argues with God on behalf of wicked people in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah ("will the Judge of all the earth not do justice") be silent in the story of the binding of Isaac when he is asked to offer his beloved son, innocent of wrongdoing, as a sacrifice (and his silence is deafening)? I offer a unique and original interpretation of the story in reconciling an apparently contradictory Abraham as a springboard to understanding Biblical theology in general. I argue that the great revolution of the Bible is not as is widely and mistakenly thought monotheism - but, rather, the way in which God is conceived as a moral God who demands morality leading to the revolutionary conception of religion of the Bible in which the essence of religion is morality, and not faith or ritual. The Biblical conception of religion is not an orthodox (correct doctrine) conception, but an orthoprax (correct deeds) and anti-theological conception of religion. Thank you, Jeff

Sarah (sarahsweetz25) | 3 comments Hi everyone,

Thank you Vincent for this Community.

I' m Sweetly ( pen name - Sarah) from India. I am an entrepreneur by passion in Medical Field - UK based for the past 12 years and by profession I am a teacher. I am an avid reader of books.

I am basically here as a flashlight to help my best pal. Also I am here to learn a lot from all established authors and their esteemed works.

I do plan to eventually come out with a self-published book in Children's Literature in November of 2018 and an enchanting and thought-provoking script that has the potential to be made into a movie. I enjoy gardening and I am currently pursuing a new hobby knitting.

Looking forward for help and guidance.

:-)

Pablo Pablito | 1 comments Hello I'm Pablo,
I'm concerned with Inheritance... memory if you like.
I would be thrilled if this became any place for discussion on my obsessive topic. And if I could post a bloody picture or two !.
Of transplant organ memories, inherited memory, genetic memory. The kinks and bumps that are more linear and in nature transcend death.
The possibilities of new perceptions of what life is, become endless once you start seeing it.
Example- the Spider Wasp of Australia.
It injects the Huntsman Spider with a neurotoxin that places the spider into a zombie like state. The spider remains alive. Keeping the host...fresh.
The wasp then lays an egg inside the spider and tucks it into a crevice and builds a wall of clay, sealing the spider in.
The maggot hatches and begins to devour the spider internally. If it were to eat vital organs first, the spider would die and the maggot would starve. But the maggot is born with a detailed knowledge of spider anatomy the equivalent of a second year medical student. It so devours the internals in such a way as to keep the spider alive and eats the heart last.
If this amount of detailed memory can be inherited by the simpler brain of a spider, then what else, at our level of complexity, may we be inheriting ?.
Maybe the difference is about the ability to recall.
Am making nay sense ?.

Janet Colbert | 60 comments Hi everyone. Happy New Year. I am a new author who never had any intention of writing a book. I founded STOPPNow (Stop the Organized Pill Pushers) Now due to the drug addicted babies I was caring for as a neonatal intensive care nurse. The opiate epidemic had it's origin in Broward County Florida where I reside. This story must be told. I read on here where Nitesh msg 768 gets depressed after reading part of this book can get emotional but it brings out the Let' get involved and do something. Read STOPPNow and share your thoughts.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

I am also going to place here a video regarding an event that happened in Ohio. This is not an isolated incident. The opiate epidemic worsens every year. There is a 1000% increase in the babies born addicted to drugs in Florida. http://time.com/5083313/opioid-crisis...
Please take up the cause. This is destroying our nation.

It was a lot of work and a lot to think about, but a rewarding experience. I look forward to being part of the group, making friends and seeing what people like to read. Best Cliff

Bill Walker | 1 comments Hello,

My name is Bill. I am 7-feet tall and former futures and options trader in the Treasury Bond Pit at the Chicago Board of Trade. My new novel is Chicago Pits (2018). www.skywalker-pct.com

Simply put, it depicts the sheer savagery of high finance. How can this be considered a glamor business? The facts are indisputable: the era of fast money has been a disaster for the average working person. How could we expect any different.

In Chicago Pits, the reader will see the level of depravity that people reach in order to make fast money. The obvious question is what of value is created. One's view of our nation's financial markets is bound to be dramatically altered.

This group seems to have many innovative thinkers and I will be watching. Thanks for accepting me..

Joni Dee | 12 comments Hi guys,

I have contributed to this group a few times in the past on the subject of terorrism and especially jihadi terrorism.
My name is Joni, I live in London and work in finance. In my past, I've handled quite a lot of counter-terrorism during my military service in the Intelligence Corps of a Western country's armed forces (Chief Sergeant -Ret.).

I've chosen today to introduce myself as my debut fiction novel, which navigates between MI6, Mossad, the British Government and Jihadi Terrorism will be free later today and throuoghout this weekend on Amazon in an effort of getting some highly needed exposure.
I am not linking, as to not make this promotional, but you can find it through the goodread book page And The Wolf Shall Dwell

I hope this post is okay by James and Lance, and I am happy to share my expertise on more subject regarding.
Thanks all!

Thanks Lance, though my knowledge is classified in terms of source etc I'd happy to share my take on any jihadi terrorism. My experience includes mainly SIGINT, and just a handful
of actual field activity, but as an instructor in military intelligence school I've had my fair share of meeting field operatives and interoogators.
I've encorporated a fragment of Jihadi terrorism problem in my novel. However, my sequel (currently in writing process) which is titled "Terror Within" will handle quite a bit more SIGINT framework (features GCHQ which I took the liberty of writing about, as I was not in the British Armed forces)
If you are accommodating, you can all help me celebrate my late grandma's would be 100th birthday by downloading my debut novel for Kindle, free until tomorrow https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/191143...

I assume you self-published so you had to have paid for their review. Do yourself a favor. Trust the Kirkus.,Pull the work. Hire a second draft editor. Hone your product and seek a sympathetic literary agent. I'll bet it would be a big seller in Teheran. Cheers!

Mario the lone bookwolf (mariothelonebookwolf) Hi!

I am 32, from Austria and totally into science fiction, fantasy, humor and science topics and always trying to widen my range.

I read some socially critical books a few years ago and then reviewed them too. I've gotten back into this matter through the reviews and started reading non-fiction books again.
I try to get a bit of pathos and exaggeration into the reviews as well as to compress some of the most interesting topics I've discussed.

I am currently changing thematically. Away from books that show the problem. There are some of them and the basic principle of greed, ignorance, violence, and inequality always stays the same.
I want to read more disruptive, progressive books that show a way out of the dilemma. Rather than describing it in all its filthiness. Books that are more inspiring than depressing.

I am very much looking forward to the book suggestions in this group.
And the impulses that you one get from it.
One can not emphasize enough often; how important the topic is.

Best regards
