Anita Pomerantz | 9297 comments Not sure how it is time to vote again, but it is.

Please vote for the tag you would most like to read for October at the following link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CJYWKXM

You may click on the answer choices in the survey to see a listing of books that fit each tag.

Remember, you may cast up to a total of 10 participation points for your choice. Everyone gets one vote for free so please vote even if you don't have any participation points!

You can see how many participation points you currently have in the spreadsheet below.

Please note that if you are new to PBT, the participation points are tallied at the beginning of each month, so it is possible your name may not yet be added to the spreadsheet. Don't worry, it will be next month! In the meantime, you have one vote to cast, so please join the voting.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Happy voting! Please cast your votes by 12 pm EST on 9/22.

Note: If no one choice receives more than 50% of the vote, people who chose the least popular choice will be asked to recast their votes for one of the remaining two options.

UPDATE: None of the tag choices received a majority of the vote. If you have not yet voted, please vote here between the two choices that remain.

That was easy!
I'm also on the Android app but saw both messages!

Thanks, Jenny - - that's so weird! I appreciate you reporting that. I have the Android app myself so will give it a try. In the past, unfiled messages were not appearing, but maybe they fixed it!

message 4: by Susie (new)

Susie I found that easy as I feel as though I’ve read two of them to death.

So, I am curious - - do you mind sharing what device you are on? Do you know if you are on the most recent version of the app (they recently updated it)?

I do not see this message on my Android app on my Samsung phone. I can access it via Notifications which I'm receiving since I wrote the message - - but I can't go to Play Book Tag and see any un-filed messages.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8439 comments Voted .... I'd be happy with any of these. Thank you randomizer (and mystery PBTer if we're still doing that) for some great picks this month!

message 8: by Idit (new)

Idit | 1028 comments Well, war is an all-round good topic with heaps of book to read, but I really want an incentive to read Midnight’s Children. (Started it as a third book for for magical realism, loved it, didn’t finish)
So India it is for me

message 9: by Meli (new)

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I've already got a few reads on deck for October and none fit in those categories, so I think I will sit out the vote.

Do participation points not used carryover if you don't vote one month?

message 10: by Nicole R (new)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Meli wrote: "Do participation points not used carryover if you don't vote one month?"

Yes! Anita keeps a running tally of participation points, so feel free to use as few or as many as you like each month. You can see your running total in the spreadsheet that she posted a link to in her first post.

message 11: by Nicole R (new)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Uuuuggghhhhh. I really wanted my options to be "witches," "vampires," and "scary" in order to fit with my Fall Flurry Challenge no matter what! lol.

Speaking of my favorite challenge....I am announcing that today! WooHoo!!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Anita, I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) but I also have the updated version of the app.

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12953 comments I lightly voted.... First of all, its very kind and thoughtful that the administrators are trying to make it easy for the folks who research and vote with the app. I think that's really sweet. But if its too much effort or too complicated, don't worry about it. I use my phone a lot, as I am often on the go. But I write reviews, research, and vote with my laptop. Its not skin off for me to do so. I enjoy the research part of it. I think about books I might recommend for others. Sometimes I am surprised. One of these categories wasn't intuitive for me so there were surprises there.

Speaking of the research, i have books for each of these tags. Could have voted for any. But I picked the non-intuitive one, with the least books I could read. Why? Because there is a book on there, that is on my TBR which doubles for fall flurries. This would just make my October a lot easier, when i am reading the Weight of Ink, and i have a lot of other books to get through. But if it doesn't win, then I have a whole host of fall flurry and monthly tag choices i would enjoy, so no biggie.... I liked all three choices, but then just voted lightly. My bet says Anita calls me to re-vote, and i put my two measly votes elsewhere when needed. I'll pick between the other two then.

message 14: by Elise (new)

Elise (ellinou) Well, I didn't have to think or hesitate much for that one! Didn't throw all my votes at it because I'd be okay with the other two also, but I have a definite preference!

Weird - - I have the Galaxy 8 and the updated version of the app, and I can't see any posts that aren't filed. Maybe my app version isn't completely updated . . .I'll try to download a new version and see if that helps.

Hebah (quietdissident) | 675 comments Interesting choices this month. Was torn between a couple of them but went with one that lines up a bit better with my reading goals.

message 19: by Amy N. (new)

Amy N. | 256 comments Threw a few points toward the one that would give me an excuse to read one I ran across when looking through dystopia. This is such an odd mix I don't care too much which wins.

message 20: by LibraryCin (last edited Sep 15, 2018 11:47AM) (new)

LibraryCin | 11719 comments OH! Well, there should be no mistaking which tag I'm hoping for! :-) Unfortunately, I do not get to vote! LOL!

Both the others are easily do-able for me, as well.
(Although, I have to admit, I'm hoping not for war - I read so much about it, so my preference would be either of the other two. Now, if it was November, war would work well for a Remembrance Day Fall Flurry read!)

message 23: by Sushicat (last edited Sep 15, 2018 12:17PM) (new)

Sushicat | 843 comments Voted - though really, I'd love any of these choices. For two of these I have a perfect fit lined up for reading in the next couple of weeks anyway. Of course I voted for the third one, since I really want revisit Inspector Gamache.

message 24: by Magdalena (new)

Magdalena | 414 comments Voted - I kind of went crazy getting books for friendship and there's no way I'm going to finish all of them by the end of this month so I was relieved when one of the tags included most of them. But no matter what wins October should be fun!

Thanks for the chuckle, even if it wasn't meant as a joke :). I'm glad it wasn't all three of these at once :)

While there is something I could read for all of these, the choice was easy for me.

message 27: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte | 1701 comments For the first time since I joined the group I’m open to any of the three so I may not vote. Although war would allow me to really focus on Andersonville for Denizen.

message 28: by Michael (new)

Michael (mike999) | 569 comments So torn between the good stretch that would come from reading more Canadian and Indian lit and the ease of all the books about war. But for the last I have to pause and imagine what books I might tag as genrally about war versus using a tag for the specific war, like WW2. I do both, but only a handful so far for just "war".

message 29: by Joni (new)

Joni | 626 comments I think i will not vote on this one. I really don’t have any title on my TBR. So i will just find something to fit whatever wins.

If I tag a book for a certain war, I always add it to my war tag as well. I don't think there are all that many of us who like the war tag, but I could be wrong.

I have been reading a good share of India book this year, and wouldn't mind adding another.

So many good Canadian and one I am thinking about works for both Canadian and war.

The choices make me really happy.

message 31: by Nicole R (new)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments I am in a law class about armed conflict. I read endlessly about genocide and international war crimes this semester (uplifting, I know).

So, I could easily make that tag work with my assigned reading!

message 34: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I dasn't comment because it seems to be a jinx to talk up my choice.... ;)

But I do have a question. When ppl use more than one participation point, how many do they generally tend to use? I mean, I'm sure it varies a lot, but do they use in the neighborhood of five points? Or 50? Or 200?

There's a 10 point limit, Cheryl. I spend liberally when I really want a particular tag. PBT participation points = my favorite crypto currency.

message 36: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12129 comments I usually do 5 points. I don't remember if I have ever done 10. That would mean two really bad choices for me personally and one that I loved.

There is indeed a very good chance of that! I'd also have lots of awesome recommendations for that theme!

message 38: by annapi (new)

annapi | 5505 comments I only throw 10 points if I REALLY need for a tag to win. Usually I use 5, but if I can't choose or don't care, I use 1.

message 45: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Voted, I voted for the one I thought would be suggested by a PBT member. I have no idea which member it was, but who knows lol. I'm pretty equally good with all three of these.

As for voting trends- I pretty much always only use my one free vote. A) Because I'm a PBT Participation Point hoarder, and B) Because I like leaving it up to the group more. I can pretty much always find something, so it's fun getting to stretch the limits more.
