UF, werewolves, a healer in inhereted cabin in the woods

A few years ago (2-3) I read a short story or a first chapter at the end of another novel. about a young woman who inherited a cabin in the woods from a relative. The previous owner was apparently the healer for the woodland creatures including the local werewolves. I don't remember if the woman was a vet and/or if she "sensed" the wellbeing of others although it sounds familiar to this story. There was the standard injured wolf who changes into the superiorly handsome man, and I think there was a large cage or cell in the cabin. This was not a fantasy read it was very Urban Fiction. I was reading well known UF authors at the time i.e Patricia Briggs, Jeaniene Frost, Kelly Armstrong, etc.
