20.9 - Moderators' Pet - Danielle M's task: Neil Simon

Broadway lost an icon last month with the passing of legendary screenwriter Neil Simon. Select one of the following options and read a book that fits that task:

Required: State the option you used when you post.

Option 1: Neil Simon was well known for writing comedic plays. Read a book with a main page genre of Comedy or Humor.

Option 2: One of Neil Simon’s best known plays was The Odd Couple. It premiered on Broadway in 1965, and was later adapted for film in 1968 and television in 1970. Read a book first published between 1965 and 1970, inclusive.

Option 3: Some of my favorite movie adaptions are Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues, which along with Broadway Bound make up “The Eugene Trilogy.” For this task, read a book that is part of a trilogy. A book that is identified by Goodreads as one of three primary works in a series qualifies as part of a trilogy.

Erin (NY) (erin_p) | 653 comments I think option 3 is missing a word? Is it supposed to be read a book that’s part of a trilogy?

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments i'm assuming for option 3 - a book that has trilogy in the series info is acceptable - i.e Surrender of a Siren - (The Wanton Dairymaid Trilogy #2) ....

Yes, that works.

Yes, I will accept as it is part of the Diogenes Trilogy.

Pia Will you accept these series as a trilogy?
Both have 3 main books, but they also have short stories included in the series:

The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass

Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver

Thanks!

Danielle | 212 comments I'm sorry, but it looks like there are five primary works, so it's a series - but not a trilogy.

Pia No problem. I have 2 other books that are marked as a trilogy in Goodreads, so I’ll use any of those
Thanks!

Rina | 564 comments Does the series name has to have trilogy in it? Or do series with 3 primary works fit?
E.g. would Rotten Rapunzel work?

ohh thanks - that opens up some other options - i was figuring you needed trilogy

makes me lean towards Blood Oath - as the series as 3 entries - https://www.goodreads.com/series/2093...

and the description on the 3rd book - Outlander meets post-Civil War unrest in the conclusion to Melissa Lenhardt's fast-paced historical series.

In my mind, three primary works in the same series IS a trilogy. Once a fourth is published, it would no longer be a trilogy. I would bet that this author intends to write more books for this series, which is why it isn't labeled a "trilogy", but as it stands right now, it definitely qualifies.

KSMary | 1181 comments Do I understand that you're not counting a series that has a 3.5 published so I could use The Viscount and the Vixen for Opt 3 or not?

There are three primary works in that series, so yes, you could use The Viscount and the Vixen.
