This was a quirky start to a promising series. Halloween (Hallie) to her friends has inherited her Aunt's manor which she turns into a bed & breakfast. Hallie is a witch with very little ability, when she practices magic not only do her spells mess up but so does any other witch's that are casting at the same time, that is until Hallie finds an old book in her Aunt's attic. Discovery of the book brings a number of characters to the manor, not all who they seem to be. Definitely a series I would like to read more of

This was a nice surprised. Since I didn’t know what I wanted to read I just picked a book that had the highest rating from recommendations I have gotten from GR friends. I haven’t read too many time travel books, however this one seemed a little different from others. Her family has the ability to travel through time, it didn’t really get into to why other than she is the chosen one and also the prophesy. After deciding she needs to get away after accepting a marriage proposal, she goes to Ireland with her cousin Colin. He winds up taking her to a monolith and then takes her back to 15th century Ireland where she finds the man she has been having dreams of her entire life. I like that it was not insta-love. Both had reservations and Brianna needed to decide that she was willing to leave her life in the 21st century to stay with Nick along with dealing with threats from Nick’s father with trying to steal her to gain power of time traveling. I enjoyed the book and like the segway into the next book at the end.
is my all-time favorite book, then
I do also like a couple of Immortal After Dark books by Kresley Cole and Outlander

I have to admit, the Cinderella trope is not one of my favorite fairy tale retelling. But this one is definitely one of the best I've read.
Sophia Beckett was the illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Penwood whom he claimed as a ward but didn't really acknowledge her in any meaningful way.
When the Earl remarried, his new wife Countess Araminta brought her two daughters Rosamund and Posy into the household and quickly put Sophia on notice as to her place, or lack thereof. It was sad, painful and thus began Sophia's longing for affection and a family connection.
The Bridgerton's annual masquerade ball was the most sought after invitation in all of the ton, and the household staff helped Sophia sneak into the ball since her face was covered. There Sophia met Benedict Bridgerton, and those two formed an attachment even though Benedict had no idea whom the lady in the Silver dress was. The rest of the story was Benedict's search of the masked lady who enchanted his soul at his family's masquerade ball.
Rosalyn Landor's narration always transports me to that old regency period. I loved Benedict. He was kind, thoughtful and sensitive. He was just the right person because Sophia really needed someone who was both patient and persistent. She was nursing a lot of hurts from her childhood and being drawn into the Bridgerton home began her healing and need to be long.
Their banter and chemistry was just gripping. These two really fit well together and I loved how they both kept gravitating to the other despite society's rules and regulations. The dowager Violet Bridgerton was probably the unsung hero in this novel. Her keen observation and love for her children paved the way for her children's happiness.
This was another great addition to the Bridgerton series.

Review: This was fun! I have mixed feelings about this author, but this was a nice start to a series, or actually a couple of series. The characters were interesting, and although the h was a little silly and created unnecessary drama near the end, the two of them were good together and meshed well. I like the world, and all the different directions the series can go from here. I also like the teaser for book 2, so I'm hoping to get to that one sooner rather than later.

My reaction when I heard that Hugh d’Ambray would get his own book and perhaps series was "No Thanks."

This is the same dude who mercilessly hunted Kate Daniels and all those who allied with her. The seemingly soulless Preceptor of the Iron Dogs, Warlord of the Builder of Towers is now given an opportunity to be a hero? Now that he has been purged by his Lord Roland, we are treated to a backstory of a young boy Emile was basically groomed by Roland, Kate Daniel's bio dad. We are supposed to buy this whole Hugh just wanted to belong story.
For what he has done to Curran, Clan Bouda, Kate etc, it will take more than one fantastically written book to get me there. Simply because past five fantastically written books preceding this one depicted him as Satan's right hand. It simply can't be undone in a book, or even a trilogy. But I will let Ilona Andrews give it a shot.
Since Hugh was dumped by his surrogate father and lord Roland, Hugh had to feed his Iron Dogs (army). He makes a political alliance with Elara Harper, the White Lady who needs an army to protect her people and in return, Elara promises land and resources to house and feed the army. A truly symbiotic relationship between two powers who seem to detest each other but their sexual chemistry is palpable.
I had to fight not to get sucked it. I really had to keep reminding myself that Hugh is getting his due and not to fall for the authors attempt at redeeming him. I was getting worn down so I tip my hat to the authors. They made a compelling argument for Hugh. I remember Hugh from the last book though, not the this one who is protecting a little girl, trying to teach her archery.

Note: This is a story that one should only read if you have caught up on the prior Kate Daniels books. It is so gripping, well paces, lyrical storytelling. This is UF at its finest. I will admit that I loved the book and I loved that Elara was giving Hugh all that he can handle. She still is no Kate, but I like her.
Maybe I am petty but I don't want Kate or Curran to have anything to do with Hugh. Not even to fight Roland. I want Kate to kick his ass. There is a lot of story left. I have to be honest, I am so curious as to how Ilona Andrews is going to pull this off. Can she get me to be Team Hugh?

I have to tell you 45 hours 46 minutes of any book regardless of how much one enjoyed a book is just exhausting. Davina Porter's voice was amazing and I really did enjoy the book It's just that it was a really long book.
I love this story but I fear that I may have to just watch the series which cuts out the wordy sentences.
This story has Claire twenty years after being separated from Jaime now raising Bree her daughter and living life as a Doctor.
Some research reveals that Jaime didn't die in the Battle of Culloden and in fact lived on. Claire makes the painful decision to leave Bree and go through the stones to find Jaime.
Jaime went on to have a son and try to live. When they reconnect, that was probably the best few scenes in this series so far for me. I really feel their love and chemistry. I love these two together. I also like the trip to Jamaica as it added a race/diversity discussion. One thing is clear, twenty years did nothing to dampen Jamie and Claire's connection.
BTW, I must say that I don't like Bree. I liked Roger, but Bree got on my nerves.

Review: I feel like I should have liked this book more than I did. The idea was original, and the kids had some of the most bizarre talents I've seen and the lead was likeable. But I was just kind of bored. I didn't feel any kind of conflict or peril until the last few pages, and even that was dealt with rather quickly. Mostly it was just the kids hanging out, which got kind of old quickly. The pictures were cool though.
I am having a problem downloading Reaper's Property. Audible is having issues right now since I can't download any books. I had to go to scribd to find something. I am starting Silver Bastard shelved 69 times

I generally do not read Motorcycle Club books. The main reason is the language bikers use. I do not like the terms they use for women. That being said, I went with this author because of all the good things I have heard about her books. Becca had a horrible childhood with a worse mother. The best thing she ever did was allow Becca to be sent away when Puck wanted to save her from her step-father. I felt really bad for Becca. She kept hoping her mother would leave Teeny and come live with her and everything would be fine. She was wanting a fantasy and hoped it would happen every time she talked with her mother. It did get a little annoying after a while. I was with Puck when he told Becca to just write off her mother, even though he said it more colorfully. I honestly couldn’t believe the final scam her mother and Teeny pulled on Becca to get money. What mother lets her child believes she is dead?! I don’t think I really cared for the end of epilogue with Becca receiving a Mother’s Day card from her mom. I guess as far a as a HEA it was suppose to be nice that her mother wanted to mend bridges, but I didn’t care for that. I guess that’s just me and not needing everyone to have a HEA or potential one.

Review: Ashley writes what I would consider "motorcyle club light" -- with a lot of the illegal activities and treatment of women issues toned down to make the guys more likeable. This it typical Ashley -- alpha male hero with a heart of gold under all his asshole like tendencies, sassy heroine who is willing to stand up to him, and a wide variety of supporting staff that add to the craziness. I enjoy these books despite the occasional feeling that I'm missing half of the conversations the characters are having and the constant time back hops. I find I always have a smile on my face when I get to the end of her books.

I liked this book but I didn't love it. Phebe has been mentioned in the prior book and its clear that she was ride or die for the Prophet. After all, she was trained to be a seductress since she was 10yrs old. After the Hangmen of Hades destroyed the Order of David, Phebe went from being the Head of the Sacred Sisters to now a drug addicted sex slave to Meister, leader of the Aryan Brotherhood.
When Xavier ‘AK’ Deyes and his Hangmen brother try to rescue more of Sisters who were sold from the New Zion to the Aryan Brotherhood, the find Phebe completely captures his attention. First he remembered her from their first interaction when he tied her to a tree and second, he condition reminds him of his past. AK decides he must help Phebe get clean and reclaim her life. Little did he know by helping her work through her pain, he would also be working through his own pain.
My main issue is that they are so messed up individually that jumping right into a relationship didn't make sense. I also didn't really feel their chemistry as much as some of the other couples. They redeemed each other but I didn't think that there was enough individual healing for each person. A lot happened and not enough space to process before AK and Phebe jumped into their HEA journey.

There were several things goings on. Trey needs to mate with Taryn to help strengthen his pack to protect them from his uncle. It also helps Taryn since she is being forced to mate with a wolf she does not want to. The only way to get out of it is if she finds her true mate. There was a set up to “meet” for the first time at a club so it would be very public and no one would be able to deny when they first lay eyes on each other. I really love Taryn. She is such a smartass and made me laugh several times especially when she was dealing with Trey’s grandmother along with how she deals with people who make her angry. I got frustrated with Trey with keeping his distance from Taryn after he realized that he was getting too close. I get that he was afraid of imprinting, still want wanted to knock him upside his head and yell at him. Unfortunately, it took Taryn grieving her mom for him to get his head out of his a**, even though he did put it right back in there again talking before thinking about what he was saying when Taryn could hear him. They did not have an easy relationship with both fighting what was happening between them, Taryn’s family and friends suspicious of the mating and someone trying to hurt Taryn. I enjoyed the things Taryn did for Trey once they both opened their hearts to each other and became vulnerable. I do look forward to more of this series.
