Review: I know this is a well loved series in many of my groups, but...I didn't get it. I feel like there's some secret to this book that I missed. I found neither of the leads to be likeable, and the h was downright stupid several times. And the whining!! The scary parts were just confusing-- where did Dex go and was she in a different time and why did the lantern keep showing up -- and never fully explained. I get that (view spoiler) Clearly not the series for me. :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I wasn't expecting the twist at the end. It definitely threw me for a loop.

Olivia Barton was a wealthy orphan. Her adoptive parents died and the only person she had a connection with had gone missing. Her fiance disappeared in Columbia and she was unclear if he was dead or was in hiding to escape their upcoming wedding.
So Olivia hired a mercenary, an ex-navy seal named Thomas, to help her find answers and that road led them to Columbia. While on the hunt for her missing fiancee, Olivia and Thomas bonded and soon found themselves fighting their growing attraction.
Olivia had to decide between the past and the current man whom she has come to rely upon.
I really felt for Olivia. Growing up without feeling loved by her family, she was desperate for a connection. She was a very likable heroine, but she was also trusting and naive. She often ignored very obvious red flags but again, she had inner strength and resolve. So I knew she would be okay in the end.
The story kept my attention because Olivia and Thomas were both working to overcome their past. There was a clear growth in their characters as the story progressed. The pacing was good and it was pretty suspenseful. I was able to finish the story in one sitting.
Mia Sheridan always delivers a good romance mixed with characters that are overcoming painful pasts. So at the end of the journey, there is a feeling of redemption and restoration. I almost always feel satiated at the end of her stories.
Regarding the twist, I would have liked to know (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I couldn't put this book down. I didn't know where the author was going with this couple but I enjoyed the journey.
Gypsy Blue was a con-artist who was trying her best to carve out a life with her sister Birdie, while they were on the run.
Her heists and scams put her in the cross-hairs of famed defense attorney Lucian West and now it was time for the blackmailer to become the blackmailed.
Gypsy didn't like having a taste of her own medicine and it was a constant battle of wills. Unfortunately for her, she was dealing with a man of iron will and he held all the cards, including evidence that could land her prison.
Gypsy now had to learn how to deal with her life as someone else's puppet. Meanwhile, Lucian got to know Gypsy and saw there was more than meets the eye.
This book was about the healing and redemption of two broken souls that had to learn to trust people again. They had different traumatic events to overcome, but as they became vulnerable to each other, tender moments led to their bonding.
If you like a suspense yet intense dark romance, give this one a try

Wow, I can’t believe the European Vamps (EV) in this one. The storm apocalypse (as Alex called it) wound up messing with people’s emotions making them angry and aggressive, which caused a bunch of mayhem in the city. Reverents rising that have been dead for hundreds of years coming back to life. Vamps being kidnapped to be used against Leo. Jane really had her hands full this time. Leo made it all that more difficult for her by not disclosing everything at once but piece meal it out for her and making her figure it out for herself like he always does.
I love Jane. One of the things I really loved in this one was that she had Eli and Alex go to water with her (at least ask Aggie One Feather who knew a man who would do it for men). I don’t think she expected to heal from wounds she didn’t realize she still had and also see Eli starting to heal from happened to him when he was a Ranger. Her bonds keep getting stronger and spreading out to more people. I love that she is not a loner anymore. She has always had a good heart.
This is the first time I really wish for a short chapter with Eli and Bruiser’s POV. (view spoiler)

Review: I wanted to like this one more than I did as there are about 10 more books in the series. The book certainly had action and the pace was quick and kept my interest -- although the explanations of scientific facts occasionally went over my head. My problem with the book was the characters. They were all so underdeveloped that it was difficult to care about any of them. Maybe that is something that will be improved as the series goes on.

I love and hate this book. I REALLY did not Ethan to die. I have to wonder if he is going to stay dead. Reading the preface for the next book wasn’t any help either. His name is one of the characters in the next book, but is he in just in Merit’s dreams or does he come back to life? I am venting. The only good thing in this one is that Selena is dead too and the drugs and the corruption in the mayor’s office was revealed.
I do feel bad for Merit with the lengths that her father would go to “help” her without her consent and the chaotic collateral damage he caused. I am so happy this series is on audible romance so I can just download the next book. I was planning on waiting to see if the next book would work for our next call but I don’t think I can wait that long to see what happens.

This is the first book that deals with Kate and Curran having left the pack and moving to the suburbs. I was concerned that this may change the way the story flowed but there was no need. This is a series that continues to give at break neck speed with plenty of action. The banter between Kate and Curran is great and always gives me a giggle. It will be interesting to see how Roland's relationship with Kate develops, and what he is hoping to achieve. Need to get the next book so I can continue this series.
I'm going to probably be a few days late with my completion this week -- the weekend didn't have as much reading time as I'm used to.
Annd now I'm changing my book because RL has blown up and I'll have this one done sooner. New Selection Post

This is the 3rd in The Ministery of Curiosities series which continues to go from strength to strength. This follows immediately on from the events in book 2. While Charlie is recuperating, Lincoln is investigating the disappearance of Lady Harcourt's step/son. In typical Charlie fashion she decides to investigate. This is an enjoyable series, and the continuing attraction between Charlie and Lincoln continues to cause anguish to Lincoln leading Charlie to question his feelings for her. Can't wait to see what develops next for this unorthodox couple

This was another action-packed book with the Chicagoland Vampires. I hope Ethan and Merritt finally have all of their issues worked out. It was driving me crazy about getting together and then Ethan pulling away. I was surprised to find out what Seth Tate was. I was kind of leaning towards demon possession but wasn’t disappointed that I was wrong. It was an interesting twist on twins and how Dominic became corrupted and how easy it was to get Mallory to do what he needed. I do like how all of the books are intertwined and you have to wait for things to make sense. Now the House has decided to leave the GP. I am really curious how things will play out in the book.

This is the first in the Wallflowers series and the first I have read from this author. 4 debutantes who consistently find themselves sat next to each other at balls make a pact that they will work together to find suitable husbands for each of them starting with the eldest Annabelle. Annabelle is looking to marry into the nobility but her families ruined finances makes her unsuitable as a wife to the eligible bachelors. The snob in Annabelle describes her ideal husband as being the exact opposite of Simon Hunt who is "beneath" her. This is a well written novel which highlights the upper classes need to keep up appearances in the face of tough choices.

Review: I'm late to this series, and I think I may have liked it better when it first came out. The characters are certainly different but engaging, but in these 2 stories I didn't really get the connection beyond lots of hotness and sex. I also got a little fatigued with all the over the top dialogue and I feel like this author and I just don't agree on what's funny. I may continue with the series, but it won't be top of my list.

This is the 1st in the Brides of Chance Creek which features the General and his 5 daughters. Following the instructions given to him by his deceased wife in a series of letters the General sends each of his daughters a man. In this first book we are given an outline to some of the characters that will feature in later books, however this deals with the eldest daughter Cass and the Navy Seal, Brian that her father has sent to marry her. This isn't a straight forward HEA story with lots of twists and turns and secrets uncovered. Overall a good story from an author that I will re-visit
