This was a fun one - cute romance with a tinge of angst and some excitement & thrills with the bad guys.
I enjoyed the location too, with plenty of ways the series can go to explore the side characters

Shelf #9 Urban Fantasy
Book: Seventh Grave and No Body by Darynda Jones
Date Read 11/7/18
4 stars

I love the T-shirt quotes!
Charlies challenges include the twelve, the reporter, her missing father, her best friend from high school, her own imagination and stubbornness. I liked the story over all but Charlie proved to be quiet annoying. Her schemes and thought processes were frequently less than adolescent. Reyes kept some balance there. The events in the end were disappointing....

Shelf #10 Kindle Freebie
UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn

Date Read 11/20/18
Rating 5*
Refreshing story. This was a new twist on the Fairy Tales Grimm. I liked the characters and enjoyed this quick read.

We have a chance at a win, should druids, grabby hands or raunchy be called so we are in a good position. If druids called, it will be a bit of a race as one other team needs druids for the win.

review:
This book didn't start out so great. In fact it felt like a bit of a hot mess at first and I thought there was a little chance I would be moving on with the series but i pushed on and found the further i got into it the more I enjoyed it. By about half way or so, it felt like the author started to hit her stride and all of the pieces started to come together and by the end, I was ready not only ready to give the rest of the series a chance but actually kind of eager to.
I think the main problem was that the main character jade annoyed me a little at first and there seemed to be quite a lot of questions raised and and a lot of setting up to be done. which interefered with the flow of the story. However, once the author got into the flow, it was an interesting ride until the end. The author introduced some interesting quirky characters who I am sure e will see more of as the series progresses and there was satisfaction in the initial mystery being solved to bring about the resolution of this book .
I will definitely be reading more of this series. Actual rating 3 1/2 stars

So, I read the first one AAAAAAAGES ago and *whispers* didn't love it. Found it meh, really.
I know! I know! the horror! the insanity! I should be stripped of my reader status and thrown to the wolves.
It was reactions like that, plus a need for Is, that made me try book 2 - after all, the whole world couldn't be wrong, right? and people did say #1 was weak...
I'm glad I trusted the whole world! I enjoyed this one much more, feeling in safer authorial hands and with the characters becoming more real and rounded, with added benefits of better world building stuff happening and some fab action/mythology fun.
A win, and a convert! :)

With the added benefit / pain that the whole series is out, so no agonies of waiting! The pain being that I fear I'll inhale them all and then be sad that I didn't have years of enjoyment & anticipation!

That's presuming you haven't read any of them yet :D

No, not read those yet either! Plenty of exploring & reading there yet! :)

rating: 3 1/2 stars
review:
While I did mostly enjoy this read, the second half more so than the first, I didn't finish it with any great hankering to read on in the series nor did it leave much of an impression. In many ways it read like the many other vampire stalks 'soul mate' whilst trying to battle the bad guys stories I have read. That's not to say it wasn't a particularly fast and easy read, but more that, to me at least, it didn't really stand out that much as a new series that I needed to continue on with right this minute.
I may still move on to book 2 as I do have a copy on my kindle but I won't be in any great rush

I'm done! See the Cat-off-crazy-train chat above :)

Review
I loved this story of Khalil and Grace. It was a little irritating that Grace was so ignorant of her position and the people who came to her. Her feisty personality was perfect to handle the strong personalities she encountered and fuel the bickering between she and Khalil. I loved how he gave his promise to protect the children and it encompassed so much more than what Grace comprehended. Great story with more of the world development, action, mystery, adventure, danger, and love.

It's one of those 'I only read it because it was free for Kindle and I needed it for a challenge' situations again... But this time I didn't draw the shortest straw. I got:
+ Small town full of different paranormal creatures.
+ Colorful secondary characters that I can't wait to meet again.
+ Old mail-order-bride cliche modernized. It worked quite well.
+ Cute pet cat.
The Vampire's Mail Order Bride was a classic good old PNR so I recommend it to all the fans of this genre.

After Dragon Bound, Lord's Fall might be my favorite book in this series. probably because it continues Dragos' and Pia's story. I love the world and these two characters and I am really sorry that Thea Harrison decided to do a PNR (multiple couples per series) instead of UF(one couple per series), I think it would have been even better.
Still, it's one of the best paranormal romance novels I have read, so if you like the genre and haven't read it, hurry up.

Review:
I love this series, you guys. The first one was a perfect fierce girl fairytale retelling, and this one moves from there, opening out into the city and politics whilst keeping the feel from the first.
Vasya is a wonderful character: determined and strong and empathetic, with foolhardiness and impatience too.
I loved that The Girl in the Tower could - and did - refer to many of the characters in the book. And I liked the hints that Olga, who is stuck in the tower by virtue of her marriage and children can still wield power. You don't have to be riding around and swash-buckling to be fulfilled and powerful.
