Review:
I loved the slow progression of Nevada and Rogan's relationship. I'm a bit puzzled why Augustine's company didn't want Harrison's case, but he was clearly better off with Nevada. I like that she is starting to own her magic now and learning how to use it. Rogan gets huge points from me for continuing to support her when others find her abilities offputting. I'm excited to see the rest of her family starting to develop as characters as they pull together to finish the case. Finally I'd like to direct all the younger writers who torment me with cliffhanger endings to read this book. It has a nice balance of wrapping up the plot threads for this story while developing the larger plot line for future books in such a way that I'm excited to read the next book without the frustration of a cliffhanger. 5 stars.

Sounds like a lot of fun tonight. Have a great Halloween!

Hope you have a wonderful time!

We really did, the kids all had a great time which is what it is all about! No idea what to do with all the sweeties though, I'm barely stopping myself from eating them all at once.

My Review: I found this one a little tough to read in the beginning, not because I wasn't enjoying it but because I don't enjoy reading about abuse of any kind. emotional abuse is often worse than the physical stuff to read about to me, this story handled it really well though and it was well written. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters and spending more time with the Raven Riders, looking forward to the next one!

Another 5 stars for me. The relationship between Rogan and Nevada was amazing again. Zeus is an excellent addition to the Baylor family chaos. I loved seeing him interact with Cornelius, his daughter, and Nevada. The first two books had a lot of action that was mainly centered on Rogan and Nevada. I loved the way Rogan's people played a larger role and especially the way the houses worked together along with the authorities for the final battle. I'm a little disappointed that the next book is set to shift focus to Catalina, but I'm still looking forward to reading it once it comes out.

I'm disappointed too, but it will be interesting to see what they do with Catalina as the main character.

Review:
I liked the first 5 books of this series but for some reason I wasn't feeling this one as much.
It was fast paced and action-packed, and I loved the interactions between her and Warner, and the usual gang, Kett, Drake and Kandy, who were along for the ride. I didn't mind the hunt for the instruments of assassination in the prior books and the Shailaja/rabid koala was humorous in the last book. But here? I couldn't believe the guardians wanted Jade to release Shailaja's powers knowing how evil she is, and all for them to sentence her to death? And how the hell could Pulou allow her into the vault with all the treasures of power?
I loved how Jade stood up for herself and how she left it with the guardians at the end, though you know that that won't stick! I thought this was the end of this series but saw that there is another "trilogy" in the series so I will probably be continuing on.

I completely missed seeing that release. Thanks! It's on my tbr.

I wish we saw more of that - it would've been hilarious! But yea, can't really picture it either. But that may be because we love Nevada :)

Week 9: Urban Fantasy

My Review: Book 3 in the Mercury Pack series which is a spin off from the Phoenix Pack series. On the whole I do enjoy these books, I prefer the Phoenix Pack though as there is a lot more humour in them. That being said I did like Gwen, she is human but not afraid to stand up for those she cares for. Zander isn't my favourite enforcer but I did enjoy the story line and I am glad there was an actual conclusion to most of it. It will be interesting to see if anything happens with Gwen's family in the future.

Review:
I can see why there are so many mixed reviews about this one. If it wasn't for needing this book for a different challenge, I probably wouldn't have picked it up.
It was fast-paced and action-packed but it was missing something for me. That spark or that something special. The MC Camille was a little too sex-obsessed, and what was up with her being part witch but not being able to correctly cast spells? Not sure if that was supposed to be like comic relief but it fell flat and just made her seem that much more incompetent to be an agent/detective. I thought it was weird that her sister is a werecat (turning into a tabby cat) when she is the same half-human/half-fae mix as her. And I didn't care for the love-triangle, though I did prefer Morio over Trillian.
I did enjoy the fae-earth-demon world-building, and the overall storyarc that was introduced. It was interesting enough to make me consider reading another in this series though if I don't, I'm fine with that too.

Review:
It's been a few years since I last read this series. I always found it strange that the wolves didn't pass down information about the other supernaturals and keep track of at least some of them if only as a potential source of a threat. It is strange to see them start at such a disadvantage in information even though they are clearly better equipped to handle the threat at the end. While I miss seeing Clay and Elena together in this one since she spends so much time as a captive, it does a great job of introducing the rest of the supernatural world to set up the rest of the series.

Book: Talon by Julie Kagawa

Rating: 3 stars
Review:
I really like Julie Kagawa's writing and I enjoyed her Iron Fey and Blood of Eden series. So when I saw she was doing one with dragons I was very excited! While there are aspects of this book that are good, and the dragon society and slayers are interesting, it left something to be desired. I was only sort of interested, and I felt like a lot of the book was predictable. I didn't care that much for the characters. But I also didn't hate the book. So I'm rating it 3 stars. I may continue the series, but I'm not in a rush to do so.

My Review: I liked this one but I didn't love it. Lots going on, lots of story development. I wouldn't say there was much conclusion happening at this point, more that things are developing and moving slightly towards a conclusion. I loved the banter as normal, and Charley still insists on naming everything. I did like Beep though, and I'm looking forward to that storyline developing.

Review:
There have been highs and lows for me throughout the series but damn what an end! All the battles, the emotions (& tears), the relationships, the sacrifices. To call it anything less than epic would not do it justice. I didn't know how the author would bring everything to a close but she succeeded with flying colors!
As with other books in the series, I hated some of things that Aelin did. She seriously made it so hard to stand behind her at times. Like what the hell was she thinking?! (view spoiler)[She could've ended the war with Erawan's forces, and saved a lot of lives, a lot sooner. Then they would've only had to defeat Maeve! And the role the gods played? I almost feel like if it was supposed to be this huge plot-point, then why weren't their parts bigger in the rest of the series? A couple small lines and scenes and then what happened here? Huh. (hide spoiler)]
I so wanted this to be a 5-star read, and it was SO close to it, but ultimately there were a couple things that kept annoying me when I thought about this experience. But I did enjoy this series so much more than I thought I would considering how much I hated Court of Thorns & Roses (only read the 1st book). Would be interested in seeing what this author comes up with next!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
