Title/Author: Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston
Series: Pride #5
Date Read: 10/28/2018
Shelf: Shifter
Pages: 379
Rating: ★★★★☆
Review: This book was a hoot! All Shelly Laurenston books usually are and this one didn't disappoint. I honestly had skipped this one because I just wasn't ready to handle the crazy wolfdog Blayne's story. She has always been an even more over the top side character in other books than the others, so I just didn't think I would really care about a whole book that centered on her hyper antics. But I was able to grab this one on audio, and it was very good. Some of the storyline I was already familiar with but basically, a shifter version of a covert special forces team used her as bait to stop the humans that were kidnapping shifter hybrids for a dogfighting ring. It was nice to know that her daddy trained her well and she was not completely oblivious as she acts to what is happening around her. Her love interest and relationship was more of a slow burn vs insta love, which was also nice. Bo Novikov is a super serious, super anal Polar Bear/ Lion hybrid. Even though he had an attraction to her from the start, Blayne just thought he was some psychotic serial killer stalking her and when her hippy dippy dysfunction meets his time management OCD & schedules, it really did make for a good story. I always find it amazing how SL can take such violence and shifter politics and make it so funny and normal, especially the quirkiness of an animal breed and how that translate into their human behavior. Definitely another good one!

How to Dance an Undead Waltz by Hailey Edwards
Series: Beginner's Guide to Necromancy #4
Shelf: 'Shifters'
Read: 26 Oct
Rating: ✮✮✮✮½
Review:
How to Dance an Undead Waltz picks up where UNDEAD HEART left off and it's full of surprises. Grier finds herself in the path of arrows, learning even more about her abilities and prepping for her coming out (as Dame Woolworth) party.
I am loving this series! I enjoyed the gwyllgi pack in this installment, as well as more (much more) interaction with Linus. I just love the building relationship between these two. Unlike Boaz, Linus is exactly who Grier needs.
“How can you tell when someone loves the real you and not the idea of you?”
“They see you at your lowest,” he said softly, pitching his voice so Cruz had no hope of overhearing, “and they don’t blink. They don’t offer you a hand up, they offer you a hand to hold while you rise on your own.”

Review: This series continues to delight. I love revisiting the Campbell family. I love the new stories, but I also appreciate that each sibling is such a major part of every book. While each book focuses on a different couple, the true story is one that spans multi-generations, over more than 3 decades now. I enjoy every trip I make into Firefly Hollow.

Just love Bingo, take one book off the list to be read and add 1 or 4++ more...

The book you didn't read from the Cambrio Springs series is also good... I liked that series a little better than her Elemental series. It has some mystery wrapped in with the romance.

I know what you mean about the TBR. Who would have thought I’d add to my TBR from the Motorcycle Club shelf? And Erin introduced me to a whole new genre with her reverse harem book. :)

"
Mwhahahahahah!
You may like a group I'm part of with those as well (Reverse Harem Revolution), there are some cheesy and horrible, but some great and brilliant ones too. Go figure. It's a fun genre. =)

Also, seriously, why is every Reverse Harem book I look at on Kindle Unlimited? Is it a requirement for the genre? :)

I know, it's a big thing for KU which makes my subscription so worth it.

"Just love Bingo, take one book off the list to be read and add 1 or 4++ more..." Exactly! 😁
I loved Cambio Springs and wish she'd written more in that world.
For 'dragon', I'm gonna check out

I usually think of menage when people have a threeway or group sex. While that's happened some in RH, it's usually one on one kind of thing. And there's usually more than three! :p Typically about 5.

That's good to know...

I skimmed your shelves a little last night. Wanted to recommend you try one of my newest favorites because it is shifter, interesting, slow-burn with actual relationships, very funny in the first book, I think you'll like it. The characters are actually flawed which helps, and the author releases these really fast.

Oh, and surprise! The series is on KU 😏

Okay, nice, didn't know you have caught up with that many RH already. They're fast reads though!

Book: Dragon's Gift

Review: I'm having flashbacks to Morganville Vampires here. I didn't really like the writing, the characters, the story, the book, etc. But it ended on a cliffhanger, and so I had to know what happened. I read 6 of those books before I finally got to one without a cliffhanger and could stop. I feel the same way about this one.
Seriously, this girl decided at one time that she *needed* to have sex with each of the guys, to get the sexual tension out of the way so she could focus on their personalities and choose one of them. And her magic vagina helps them access their shifter abilities about 20 years earlier than they normally would be able to.
And yes, I'm already 1/3 of the way through book 3. :)

I especially enjoyed The Kingson Pride books and the Seaside Wolf Pack books. Both have plenty of drama, but develop the relationships really well. I've actually paid attention to your reviews while exploring the genre. So thanks for always writing them! :)

So glad you've found my reviews helpful. I'm so behind this year that most of my reviews are sitting there as mini reviews until I flesh them out. Hope you continue finding good ones in the genre.

Review: A very good start to an Urban Fantasy series. I liked the main character and there was some humor thrown in with the darker stuff. The side characters worked to keep it interesting. Will continue with the rest of the series.

Title/Author: Darkest Flame by Donna Grant
Series: Dark Kings #1
Date Read: 11/5/2018
Shelf: Dragons
Pages: 384
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review: Even though this is the first book in the series, there are three novellas introducing three other couples prior to this coupling, so at first I felt a little lost. Denae, an American working in Scottland for MI5 as an agent uncovers one of the Dragon Kings, Kellan who has been sleeping for 1200 years... She is betrayed by her teammate and almost killed in a failed set up, when Kellan awakes and witnesses the fight. She is taken to dragon central and allies with the kings when they are targeted by the Dark Fae, who want to capture one of them. This isn't my first Donna Grant book, but a shifter / dragon first from her. It had several elements I like sexy Scottish and Irish warriors, dragon shifters and strong heroines, but I just didn't feel the chemistry between the H/h. It might be that he HATED humans... I did like that Denae was a tough female character even if a little naïve about the dangers of his world, and she went for what she wanted for the most part. I listened to the audio and the narrators Scottish and Irish accents were good, female voices, not so much. I think I will go further back to the beginning before venturing forward with the series.

Great reviews, ladies! I’m sorry I’m holding us up. I’ve read mine but haven’t had time to post my review yet. I’ll try to do that tomorrow.

Glad to be of service. And that third book totally lived up to my extremely low expectations. :)

The Boss by Abigail Owen
Series: Fire's Edge #1
Shelf: dragon
Read: 3 Nov
Rating: ✮✮✮✮☆
Review:
The Boss tells the story of Finn Conleth, leader of the Huracán Enforcers (dragon shifters/firefighters who hunt renegade dragons and protect humans from their kind) and Delaney Hamilton, a human on the run from a stalker and mysterious fires that are popping up around her. These two cross paths when Finn and his team fight a winery fire where Delaney works. There's an instant attraction between them, however a major loss in his past has him shocked by his reaction to her and she's full of uncertainty about how the fires continue to appear around her. Finn shares more than he should with this human who he's beginning to suspect may be a dragon mate, but he senses she's worth the risk.
I really enjoyed this pairing. I also liked learning more about this intriguing dragon-filled world, their history and clans. I'm anxious to learn more. The prequel (The Mate) was good as well, but it left me with a lot of questions. I would suggest reading it after this full intro as it mainly fills you in on the mating process as Finn's brother is reunited with a past love and a major change occurs within the Blue clan.
