Task 20.1 limits you to the number of letters available in the standard English-language edition of Scrabble. There are only 2 H tiles available. [book:The Keepers of the Hou..."
Okay, thanks Kristina - I will re-work that task and use this excellent book on a more appropriate task.

OMG I though the counters were crazy. Sorry I didn't see before Claire. Thank you so much.

Posting requirements have changed: 12. Only one task may be included in a post. Please repost your tasks separately.

From the FAQs: I. General default rules. If a task does not specify something different, this is the rule for that task.
AUTHORs
1. If a task calls for author’s initials, what name do I use for the last initial?
While there are great variations in names, we work with the general rule that the author’s last name is the final word in the name that is preceded by a space. We realize that this may not be technically accurate in every case, but this is the default rule.
This being said, Daphne du Maurier's last name would be Maurier, as it is the final word in the name preceded by a space. Without the "du," this author will not work for task 10.9.

OMG, I did not even consider this would be a problem, sorry. I will replace asap.

The River by Gary Paulsen has the following ARBookFinder stats: IL: MG - BL: 5.5 - AR Pts: 4.0
The rules of the challenge state: "Books that have an IL designation of MG MUST ALSO have a BL of 5.0 (or higher) AND AR Pts of 7.0 (or higher). "
The River does not meet this qualification and, therefore, cannot be used for points in the SRC.

Hi Kristina
Even though my points total is up to date on the reader board, my B.B. ticket and golden oldie ticket from post 1227 weren’t added. I should now have a total of 2 of each.
Thanks very much!

Sorry about that, Louise! It's fixed now. ;-)

Task 25.2, option 4 requires that all the letters in the special tile name be found in the author's name, not the title.

Karna's Wheel does not have a print version with page numbers listed for verification.

Task 20.8 requires a book with at least 300 pages. Using the procedure for finding the page count of an ebook set out in the challenge rules, the most popular paperback (there is no MMPB) of The Magdalen Girls is only 294 pages long.

Task 25.2, option 4 requires that all the letters in the special tile name be found in the author's name, not the title."
I don't know why I did that -- my spreadsheet shows "flower" for the author's name, but for some reason, I didn't look at it when I posted that part! I'll repost, sorry.

I think I'm missing a golden oldie ticket. I'm guessing the one that hasn't been recorded is the most recent, as it was right before:
Post 656, task 20.4: Poems Three Series Complete (1890)
Post 664, task 5.7: The Art of War (450BC)
Post 1060 task 5.4: The Prince (1513).
Thanks.

Yep, I missed the one in post 1060. I've fixed it on the spreadsheet and you're points will be posted to the Readerboard in the next update. Thanks for letting me know!

All posts, including reposts, must include a link to the books you read. The easiest way to do this when reposting is to go to the original post and click on the word "edit" in the lower right-hand corner of the post. Copy what's in the edit pane, post it into a new message, and make whatever changes are needed before posting the new message (you can cancel the edit of the old one). Doing this will retain the formatting of the original post (including links and book covers).

Found and fixed!

Task 25.3 option A requires a book with a one or two word title that answers the question or completes the phrase.

Task 20.10 requires that you participate in the book's discussion thread with at least one post about the contents of the book or your reaction to the book after you have read the book.

The edition of Crazy Rich Asians you've linked to has 403 pages and is not eligible for a Big Book ticket. If you read a different edition, you need to repost this task in its entirety and link to the correct edition. If you do so, please indicate at the top of your message that the post is to claim BB tickets only, points for the task have already been recorded.

OK. I will go and do that. Thanks."
Don't forget to come back to the completed task thread after you've made your comment and repost your task. We don't go backwards in the completed task thread to pick up points so the only way you'll get credit for the task is if you repost.

Task 25.3, book B requires a book with a title that has three or more words that can complete the phrase.

Task 10.5 requires the continuation to be evident on the GR book page or that you provide a reference to show how the book fits the task.

Task 25.10 option C, book 1 requires that you state which page your book is found on if you're using the list option.

Thank you---
Will repost with another book later.

Bishop appears to be an ebook without a print edition. Please see #8. Using ebooks in the Rules of the Challenge for the procedure required for pre-approval.

Task 25.10 option C, book 1 requires that you state which page your book is found on if you're using the list option."
It says only to state it if it was found on that list. My book had "witches" listed on the books main page, embedded. I didn't find it on the list. I took option 1 of that part of the task.

With so many posts to go through, the more information you could give us would be very helpful. So, for example, a quick statement saying "I'm using the MPG witches option" would save me from having to figure out what you're doing. Now that you've explained, I get it. Your corrected total will show up in the next update.

From the Challenge Rules: Books whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may only be used for 5, 10, and 15 point tasks unless specifically allowed in the task description for a higher point task.
Task 20.3 does not allow the use of Sequential Art books.

Zomernacht has no information about the number of pages it has. We go by the information that's on Goodreads. If you want to use this book for the challenge, you need to get the page number issue resolved and then repost your task.

I will repost. I linked to the right edition in the book kink, but the cover link was the wrong one. Sorry about that.

Task 10.5 requires the continuation to be evident on the GR book page or that you provide a reference to show how the book fits the task."
I don't understand. The book is in the 'Enid Blyton for adults' series and has the original Enid Blyton signature on the front cover to show that it's an authorised release (because that's protected by copy-write). What else is needed?

This is not all that obvious (at all, actually) to someone who has never heard of Enid Blyton. Nor does Enid Blyton's name in a differing font suggest that the book was an authorized release. Since the GRs description makes no mention of Enid Blyton or the fact that this book series has been authorized by the author's estate, a reference of some sort stating this fact is needed.

Task 25.1, book 1 requires that none of the letters in SUMO are present in the author's name, not title. Since Will Adams has an S and an M in his name, he will not work for this task.

Ah, I see that I have been guilty of a ukcentric viewpoint (although I'm not from there myself and still grew up on her books) in not realising that one of the most popular UK authors wouldn't be universally known to all booklovers. Apologies!
The signature font from the book though doesn't differ from the original, it's identical.

So, is a reference still needed?

I was curious about these books, and found this:
https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainmen...
It states: "Anne McNeil of Enid Blyton Entertainment added they were "thrilled" with the new books, adding: "We are certain Enid Blyton would have delighted in the gentle parody of her characters..."
Not sure if that helps...

Thanks Ann. I've found lots of references and posted them.

Belated thanks for fixing it - sorry, work's been rubbish this last couple of weeks.

You've already claimed task 5.4 on Sept. 23 in post 919. Just an FYI so you can adjust your points.

You are the only person who has shelved Nouka no muko as Nature. From the SRC Rules: The genre must appear on the list when you access it and the player may not shelve a book as a genre in order to use the book for a task.

meh - first time using the tin eye thing and with so many tasks using it this time, I didn't really get what to exclude or check to not - although to the naked eye it makes sense now - should have read the task more closely
