Currently reading The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster -- I needed something "light" after finishing Dakota.

Teresa | 88 comments I just finished Emma by Jane Austen. It's been a while since I last read it. I still loved the book but had forgotten how annoying the main character, Emma, could be.

I'm impressed with anyone who can make it all the way through this book. My first attempt was in high school, and couldn't finish it. I tried to reread it this past summer and while I made it a bit further, I've stalled at the halfway point. It's hard to finish a book when you can't connect with or plain don't care about any of the characters. :-?

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments In the past - although it is a little outside of my normal taste - I've really enjoyed Dick Francis's writing, and read about everything he did. A copy of Enquiry by Dick Francis was cheap at the used bookstore, and I'd forgotten how it went. So, for nostalgia's sake, read it again.

Obviously it's up to you whether you finish it or not - I've left plenty of books, including classics, unfinished with a clear conscience - BUT, if you do decide to stick with it, I will just let you know that the characters tend to get more engaging in the second half. Not all of them, but we do finally get to see some character development in many once we get past the halfway point.

Jackie Reading Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas and rereading The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time, #1) by Robert Jordan

message 4566: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2446 comments I have Throne of Glass on audio to listen to but haven't gotten to it yet. I have also looked at the Wheel of Time series but aren't there a ton of them? That discouraged me!

message 4567: by Jackie (new)

Jackie I'm only about a quarter of the way through Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas but it is really good so far. And yes, there are a ton of books in the Wheel of Time series. I'm determined to continue on this time even though it may take a long time to read them all.

I've had the first book, The Eye of the World for a very long time. Having so many books in the series is rather intimidating which is probably why I haven't read the first one yet.

Read a couple novellas/shorts over the weekend, and started a legal thriller by Lisa Scottoline, Think Twice. I also have Betrayed by her in Mount TBR, but am missing the book in between these two, Accused, which is really irritating me. Have not been able to find it anywhere locally. Guess I'll end up reading the series out of order (which I don't like doing) and ordering it online.

Scottoline's Betrayed and Chocolat by Joanne Harris are at top of my TBR pile.

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm reading Sandra Brown's Deadline. It's a romance and it's a thriller!! My other current read is keeping with my craving Christmas stories so I'm reading a sexy, funny little number called Twas the Night.

Kait Carson | 182 comments I'm taking the topic literally - when I'm not reading a cozy, I'm usually reading in a similar genre. Right now, I'm reading Deadly Ruse A Mac McClellan Mystery by E. Michael Helms . I have to confess, I've nearly finished it in two sittings. Talk about a page turner.
