That sounds like a good one. I love good setting descriptions woven into the story.

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments Just finished The Devil You Know (Felix Castor, #1) by Mike Carey . It kept me up until 2am so I could finish it so it must've been pretty good, right?

I'm catching up on my urban fantasy and thrillers. next up is The Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsen

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I'm almost finished with Blood Red Road by Moira Young . Has been a really slow read for me because it's written in "dialect" which I find distracting, but the book is actually pretty good. Just started Fever (The Chemical Garden, #2) by Lauren DeStefano , which I've been anxiously awaiting!

It looks really good so far.

message 2316: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Finished And Then There Were None And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie -- probably one of my favorite Christies so far, which surprised me. Finished The Brass Verdict The Brass Verdict (Mickey Haller, #2) by Michael Connelly also - which since I unexpectedly find myself serving on a jury this week was kind of apropos. Ripping through The Affair: A Reacher Novel The Affair A Reacher Novel by Lee Child , The Kitchen Witch The Kitchen Witch (Accidental Witch Trilogy, #1) by Annette Blair , and my pen-pal books for two of my groups: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows ; and The Borgia Bride The Borgia Bride by Jeanne Kalogridis -- each fascinating in its own way and all very different reads.

Next I'll be reading Angel Horses Divine Messengers of Hope by Allen Anderson for an animal reading challenge I'm in.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I'm listening to Soulless on audio and really the narrator is just excellent! I am loving this book! :)

Mary (resort) | 139 comments I'm reading Stephen King's 11/22/63 by Stephen King
Since I write cozy, King is a nice change. He's moved away from his early horror style, and this book is an intriguing "what if?" time travel story. At over 800 pages, it should keep me occupied for a while!

I read this back in January, Mary Ellen, and LOVED it! It'll definitely be on my Top Reads list for this year. Not to offer a spoiler or anything, but the ending was not typical King. GREAT book!

Maria Schneider (bearmountainbooks) | 191 comments I posted a freebie cozy on my blog yesterday...what was it...Nearly...no wait.

Never Buried

There was also A Bad Spell in Yurt which I really liked--it's cozy fantasy.

Meanwhile, I've been reading Frank Tuttle's Markhat stories (cozy urban fantasy. Maybe a little darker than cozy, but nothing too scary. I love them.)

I'm also about to start Patricia Briggs' latest.

OH-if you like cozy fantasy: Unicorn on Speed Dial was a great read!!!

Good to know, Melodie - thanks! In the meantime, I'm not rushing to get to the end but savoring each chapter.

Finished reading A Long Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott this morning. This was a lot different from the Alcott books most of us grew up on--an adult thriller featuring deceipt, betrayal and a pretty scary stalker. It started out a bit slow, but then stayed up late last night trying to finish it (got within three chapters of the end before calling it quits). I liked it, but had a difficult time rating it. In the end I gave it a three, since we can't do 3.5 and it wasn't quite a four for me.

I'm currently reading The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen. Not that far into yet, but so far it is quite good!

Ellen (elliearcher) Other kinds of fiction-including more "hard core" type mysteries (I'm currently reading The Day is Dark by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir ) as well as regular fiction-right now I'm reading Ward Just's The Translator by Ward Just .

I do read some non-fiction-I just finished Jon Krakauer's wonderful book about Mormonism and its fundamentalists, Under the Banner of Heaven A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer .

Read UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN a few years ago and thought it was very good.

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 505 comments Read Shelf Monkey Shelf Monkey by Corey Redekop over the weekend. At first, I didn't like it much. But to be fair, it was the characters I didn't like, but the book itself was kinda funny and interesting and made me look at how I look at books.

Kaye (momgee) | 862 comments Finished Saving Ruth: A Novel last night. It's a quick read. Good read, well done although the ending was just a little too neat and tidy for the circumstances.

Undead and Unfinished Undead and Unfinished (Undead, #9) by MaryJanice Davidson ...I have read them all and have enjoyed them, had my husband read them and he too like them. But he said Undead and Unfinished felt like it was rushed.Thoughts?
