When you're not reading a cozy....

I'm catching up on my urban fantasy and thrillers. next up is

Loved Angela's Ashes.

I've been wondering about this one. Have seen really mixed reviews.

Yay!

Since I write cozy, King is a nice change. He's moved away from his early horror style, and this book is an intriguing "what if?" time travel story. At over 800 pages, it should keep me occupied for a while!
Mary Ellen Hughes

I read this back in January, Mary Ellen, and LOVED it! It'll definitely be on my Top Reads list for this year. Not to offer a spoiler or anything, but the ending was not typical King. GREAT book!

Never Buried
There was also A Bad Spell in Yurt which I really liked--it's cozy fantasy.
Meanwhile, I've been reading Frank Tuttle's Markhat stories (cozy urban fantasy. Maybe a little darker than cozy, but nothing too scary. I love them.)
I'm also about to start Patricia Briggs' latest.
OH-if you like cozy fantasy: Unicorn on Speed Dial was a great read!!!

Good to know, Melodie - thanks! In the meantime, I'm not rushing to get to the end but savoring each chapter.
I've just read Discount Armageddon
and I've enjoyed it a lot. Light fantasy with an humor I can relate, a lot of action and some nice characters. I'm looking forward for the next one... next year :(

I have fair game on hold at the library and I can't wait for it to get here!
I've recently read

Next up in non-cozy is

Finished Agnes Grey before bed last night and quite liked it, though the children in it are absolute horrors.

Finished reading A Long Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott this morning. This was a lot different from the Alcott books most of us grew up on--an adult thriller featuring deceipt, betrayal and a pretty scary stalker. It started out a bit slow, but then stayed up late last night trying to finish it (got within three chapters of the end before calling it quits). I liked it, but had a difficult time rating it. In the end I gave it a three, since we can't do 3.5 and it wasn't quite a four for me.
I'm currently reading The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen. Not that far into yet, but so far it is quite good!

I do read some non-fiction-I just finished Jon Krakauer's wonderful book about Mormonism and its fundamentalists,

Read UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN a few years ago and thought it was very good.

Loved this series until the last 3 books or so. Haven't read the most recent one since the one before was just awful!

That sounds like a good one. I love good setting descriptions woven into the story.
