I enjoy Alex Kava, Patricia Cornwall, and James Lee Burke. Can't label them as cozy authors!

Finished a number of romances the last week:
Protecting the Pregnant Witness by Julie Miller
Takedown by Julie Miller
Cowboy Up by Vicki Lewis Thompson
Cowboys Like Us by Vicki Lewis Thompson
Currently reading:
The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis and still working on Death's Excellent Vacation by Charlaine Harris.
Am almost done with the anthology edited by Harris, only three short stories to go. I've been reading one or two between other books.

, here on GR and it was very good. Lots of violence!
I'm reading the third of Maggie Shayne's PNR Immortal Witch trilogy. It's awesome! Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are a couple of sisters who show up in each book. They're sort of time traveling stories, in that they're about immortal High Witches in different time periods, with the Dark fighting the Light with a lot of wonderful romance along the way. I'm really not a romance reader normally, but when it's written well and is a normal element of the story, I like it. When it can make me cry, I know it's good!

Kathryn wrote: "I enjoy Alex Kava, Patricia Cornwall, and James Lee Burke. Can't label them as cozy authors!"Kathryn- I think we are meant to be reading buddies. I love Alex Kava and Patricia Cornwell also! Have you read anything by Karin Slaughter?
I'm reading Plain Truth, never read anything by Jodi Piccoult. It's a good book, just really long chapters are holding me up - 50 or so pages each!
I am about halfway through Flash and Bones. This is one of my favorite authors. This one is okay except I have no interest in Nascar so all the stuff about it is kind of just annoying. So far it definitely isn't one of her best.-Kimmie
Just finished Hunting Groundby Patricia Briggs--not a cozy! Urban fantasy at its finest! Love it and the first in the series too!
Maria wrote: "Just finished Hunting Groundby Patricia Briggs--not a cozy! Urban fantasy at its finest! Love it and the first in the series too!"Actually
is the first in the Alpha & Omega series. And there was actually a short story in an anthology before that which introduced the main characters in the books!

Sorry, I meant: I loved it and I ALSO loved the first in the series!!!
Just finished David Orr's
&
by Connie Willis. Loved them both (Orr's is a user-friendly book about poetry & Willis the first book in a time travel fantasy).I'm now beginning (in my non-cozy reads) the second book in Willis's 2-parter (
-I like that the covers are negative images of each other). I'm a little more than 1/3 of the way through a difficult, slow but pretty rewarding read,
by George Lamming about his childhood growing up in a small island that was formerly a British colony.

I LOVE this series. I've missed it a lot because last year Patricia Briggs didn't publish any new book in it, but I think there's another one on sight.

Kaye wrote: "Just started

Oh. I'll be avoiding it then. Hate too many POV.
Just started The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. Only a couple chapters in, so too soon to say what I think of it.
I started
last night. The Go-Go's were my first concert when I was in 7th or 8th grade. I thought I was hot stuff in my 80's gear:)
I just started reading
. So far it's been somewhat of an in-depth analysis of the main characters with some foreshadowing of future events, but Lisa Unger writes superb suspense so I know I will not be disappointed.
Linda wrote: "I just started reading

It's not...oh, what's the way to describe it. Not quite as dark, as Unger, not that hers are terribly dark. Just a different focus I think because of the romantic elements.
Maria wrote: "Linda wrote: "I just started reading

Heather L wrote: "Just started The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. Only a couple chapters in, so too soon to say what I think of it."Heather, my husband is an avid Dekker reader and he said this book is amazing!!!
Thanks, Caitlin!
I'm now 230 pages in, and it definitely has my attention. I kept wanting to sneak pages of it at work today. *G*

Was up until 4am reading. I finally had to force myself to set aside The Bride Collector and get a few hours sleep. Finished it this afternoon, and it was really good.
Think it's time for a couple cozies now...

I am reading Bill Bryson's At Home, I am fascinated by how places in the home got their names. It is fascinating reading for anyone who is interested in even architecture as he devotes a few chapters to the glass conservatory that was built in England.

It was okay, but kind of slow and not as funny as I've heard.
I'm reading The Confessions of Catherine de Medici
,
Sizzling Sixteen, Voodoo River
and
The Union Quilters: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel.

Finished Home to Woefield: A Novel last night and started Maine and am enjoying it immensely. Highly recommend Home to Woefield. What a hoot! Fantastic characters you will just fall in love with.
Not really a cozy because Bernie is a private investigator but it is narrated from the dog's point of view - just finished
and I really enjoyed it. Read it all the way through in one sitting!
I like to read Perri O'Shaunessey, Sue Grafton and some other mystery writers. I also change genres to literary fiction and like Joanne Harris, Alice Hoffman and some others.
