Thanks. I'll go check the review!

I also finished A Cold Day for Murder. It was quite good. It was a little heavy on the language so I wouldn't consider it a cozy, but still a great mystery. I think this is a series I will really enjoy. It was recommended on the Amazon Kindle community board as a "if you liked this you might like this" thread. It was listed as being similar to Nevada Barr's series...which I loved.

I haven't tried Nevada Barr yet, but it is on my list. And I got this title when it was free for Kindle. I'm thinking it might be a nice one to save for when I'm complaining about the summer heat :-) But I'm definitely looking forward to it! Glad to hear it is good!

Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon is really good. She spins a good tale. Anna is a very strong character who really develops over the series. If you like Kathy Reichs' Temperance Brennan you will probably like Anna Pigeon. The National Park settings are always great too. A co-worker of mine vacations on Isle Royal and met Nevada Barr several years ago.

I only read one Nevada Barr and for some reason it just didn't grab me. I'd give the books another try if I didn't already have such a huge pile to read...

Finished the second Narnia book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Two down, five more to go...

Hi Mary--I don't knit, but I've been wanting to look into that card making stuff. Not that I need another hobby--I already garden and *attempt* to sew...then there's cooking and baking...

I have a blog of a lot of my cards
Mary's Tales if you would like to check it out. You might catch the fever ! I started the blog before I was hooked on cardmaking - hence the name is not exactly descriptive of the content.

Now I'm getting ready to read

These are actually rereads for me. I have not read the books since fifth grade, and don't think I read them all even then. Book one certainly didn't seem familair. I've been wanting to (re)read the entire series since The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe hit theaters. I have all but the 6th book, The Silver Chair -- I acidentally acquired two of The Magician's Nephew as some collections have it numbered as book one (order they should be read) and some as book six (the order they were actually written). Shoot...I knew there was something I wanted to look for when I was out near Frugal Muse bookstore this afternoon. Rats!

I would love to reread these some day. It was one of my favorite series of books!
I am also a cardmaker and cross-stitcher. I just uploaded a couple of sympathy cards (I have needed four of these already this year!) to post Sunday and Monday on my blog.
For the other, I currently have a couple of projects going. One is a small pic of a cat hanging from a tree branch that says, "hang in there." I was asked to make this for someone I know, as she is unable to do needlework anymore. The problem is, she spilled perfume on the package, or had it stored with some, and it absolutely reeks, even after nine washings, so I am having difficulty working on it.
And for myself, I am stitching "The Starry Night," which is A LOT of work. I should probably take a pic to post, even though it doesn't look like much right now. "The Starry Night" is one of my favorite works of art. I could have stood and stared at it forever when I saw it at the Musee Dorsay in Paris. Also love the song based on it.

EDITED TO ADD: After posting this I noticed Heather's post above me. Funny that we both mentioned cross stitching!

Sometimes watching tv with one of my kids-Bones with my daughter or Dr. Who and Archer or NCIS with my son.

That's quite a...llama you got there. It even looks real except for the painting on it. Very Southwestern.
I must stop looking at all the cards or I'm going to end up with another hobby! They look so professional and awesome!

Caroline,
I am planning on reading this one in the next month...or so :-) Thanks for the info - the blurb sounded good but with your nod I am really looking forward to it now!

LOL -- thanks. That was part of the Artzoobilee exhibit that was at the Vilas Zoo last summer. There were 30-some different fiberglass animals painted and on display from May-Sept. In October, the animals were cleaned and repaired for a charity auction, with proceeds benefitting the zoo and American Family Children's Hospital. I took a lot of pictures of the animals, which I have been sharing since last fall, and only have a few more to post.
Oh, and thanks for the compliments on the cards. I've been making my own for more than ten years now. It can be an expensive hobby, but I am thoroughly addicted. I also do scrapbooking, which uses a lot of the same supplies.

Sherry: Thanks for the coffee idea. The only problem is...I don't drink coffee. I know, hard for some of you to believe, but while I don't mind the smell, I have never liked the taste. Ugh! Don't drink tea or soda, either.

I don't do coffee either. I love how it smells, but it doesn't taste like it smells! I am trying to convince myself that I like tea, but haven't had much luck so far. I am, however, a Coke-aholic!

Loved that book! I'm reading Wives and Daughters. It's dictionary size but very good. Next one will definitely be a cozy for my alphabet list.

I did look into the card idea, but so far, you're right, Heather. Little too steep for me to enter that arena right now. I have enough hobbies draining the bank account!

Baking soda might be a good replacement for the coffee. I used it inside a lettuce keeper that I unfortunately forgot had lettuce in it. (SMELL!) I waited a week and the smell was all gone.

The book has been really good. I too enjoyed the BBC mini series. It's a very good adaptation of the book. It's the size of a small dictionary so there is definitely a time investment, but well worth it.

Baking soda will work, coffee works, and charcoal will work. Since you don't mind the smell of coffee you might want to buy some just for this purpose. We have a vacation home and somebody left milk in the fridge.....for months! Coffee worked like a charm.

I am finally going to snuggle in with Mockingjay this weekend. It's been lingering in the TBR pile far too long!

I really liked MOCKINGJAY!! Liked it almost as much as THE HUNGER GAMES. CATCHING FIRE was my least favorite of the 3.

It is depressing but in a good way.

Depressing, but in a good way??? LOL!
