I've gone back to including classics in my reading, because there are so many amazing books out there that I just haven't read.I'm currently reading Moby-Dick or, The Whale by Herman Melville
I got the 100 classic books on Nintendo DS so I'm excited to read them all.
Reading
which is terribly slow going for me. I loved the first one from page one, but this one is just not grabbing me. Also reading
. I loved THE HUNGER GAMES, but I thought CATCHING FIRE was a bit of a letdown. This one is almost as good as HUNGER GAMES, so far!
I am reading The Walker in Shadows
, its going well, although it started off a bit far fetched with the ghost story...
Paula wrote: "I am reading Linger."I liked the new guy Cole. Sam was too sappy for my tastes in this book.
Melodie I was not a fan of the first book (Beautiful Creatures), so I am not reading that one. Mockingjay was really good, but sure was depressing!

Me too! So far I have finished two books, A Christmas Carol and A Wonder Book for Girls and Boys. Am just starting Tanglewood Tales: A Wonder-Book for Girls and Boys. Incidentally, Moby Dick is one I will be passing on. I had enough of that in American Lit. *shudder*
Am also reading some older rom suspense right now, a 2-in-1 volumn by Suzanne Brockmann that contains Not Without Risk (Silhouette Intimate Moments, No 647) and A Man to Die For (Silhouette Intimate Moments #681). About halfway through the first book so far.

I have staarted
not sure i am liking it all that much. I did enjoy
until the end which made me angry.
I am currently reading M.C. Beaton's Death of a Witch. I remain a bit confused as to whether or not Hamish is a "cozy" or not.
I finished
and was disappointed with it. Should finish
this weekend. Also reading I'm a Fool to Kill You. I really like this Rat Pack series of mysteries!

I can't remember ever reading MB in American Lit, which has to be impossible right?! Maybe I shut it out of my brain for some reason or other.
I also read christmas carol. Just love it.
Oprah's book club is doing Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations-I've read both-I believe they are both on the disk, so I'll be revisiting and following the discussions on her site.
Michelle: I hated Moby Dick when we read it. In fact, I could not get past the first three chapters (which is farther than a couple friends got, LOL). I still managed an A on the paper, due to paying attention to class discussion, taking good notes, and just skimming over random pages later in the book.
I read and liked Great Expectations in HS (and saw the B&W movie version), but have yet to read A Tale of Two Cities. That might have to be one of my classics for this year.

I got the Cliff Notes when I realized there was NO way I was going to read the actual book!
Right now I'm reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, and I am really enjoying it. It's set in the 80's and 40's (during the war). It's about a Chinese-American who is friends with a Japanese-American, and I won't say much more to give anything away, but the history is fascinating although sad.
Heidi I wrote: "Misty I liked Hotel on the Corner. It was sweet. I think I gave it 3 stars."I just finished it up. I loved it. Totally my kind of book.

Vicky wrote: "Melodie wrote: "I finished

this weekend. Also reading [book:I'm a Fool to Kill Yo..."Which of the series are you asking about? If it's the Caster series or the Hunger Games series you do need to read them in order. There are only 2 of the Caster books so far and the Hunger Games trilogy is complete so you shouldn't have trouble with them. If you are talking about the Rat Pack books, you'd be okay with them. They sometimes make a reference back to something from a previous book, but if you haven't read the earlier books you really aren't going to miss anything.
Thanks Melodie. It was the Rat Pack series I was referring to. I'll take your advice and read what I find. Some need to be read in series for character development but I didn't think we'd see much change in Dino. Ole Blue Eyes and Sammy.I haven't read the Caster books and I'm waiting for Mockingjay at the library. It's almost my turn and I'm excited to find out what happens.
Thanks for sharing.
Finished
. This is the latest entry in Carole Nelson Douglas' Delilah Street, paranormal investigator series. I've stalled out on Charlaine Harris' Sookie series but for some reason, still really enjoy Carole's books. I'm going to re-read
soon because I understand Rick Riordan will soon be coming out with the second in the Kane Chronicles. (Riordan is author of the Percy Jackson series and, if you loved Harry Potter, you should enjoy Percy Jackson as well)
I am reading Devoured by D.E. Meredith and The Waxman Murders by P.C. Doherty. Also reading Little Women with my 10-year-old granddaughter and a friend of hers, and Harry Potter (for the first time!) with my -year old grandson.
I'm almost finished with
. I am really going to miss Spenser, but I'm glad there is at least one more book coming out.
Have you read any of Rick Riordan's adult mysteries. They are a lot of fun especially if you are familiar with TX.
I'm reading
. Don't know why I waited so long to get into this series! I see a new addiction forming.
Dian wrote: "Have you read any of Rick Riordan's adult mysteries. They are a lot of fun especially if you are familiar with TX."His Tres Navarre books are very good. Not cozies at all, but good mysteries.
Not reading cozies, I head towards paranormal and urban fantasy and some Science Fiction/Fantasy. Many tend to have a mystery in them. Just started
Susan: I love the Outlander series! Jamie is the quintesential hero. Sigh...
I started Savor the Moment (third in the Bride Quartet series) by Nora Roberts over the weekend, about a third of the way through so far. Book four will be up next.

I just finished Anna Karenina which I loved. It took me a solid three weeks to read but I was really able to sink into the book and characters. Now back to the cozies! I'm in the middle of The Quick and the Thread to be followed by a Carolyn Hart book, probably Design for Murder
Reading Salting Roses right now and liking it. Finally the last 4 books i have tried i did not care for.
Susan wrote: "I'm reading Watermelon by Marian Keyes."I really enjoyed Watermelon. I hope you do to.

"I love the Mercy Thompson books, but BONE CROSSED was my least favorite of them all. Looking forward to the new one in March!
Just reread
John Walsh is a true hero in my book and I'm always interested in how they get killers and creeps off the streets. This is the third time I've read this book and I keep it around to read when I'm not into a work of fiction.
