Just started an arc of won at LT. It's good so far and I loved her last book, The Brutal Telling - same location and inspector Gamache of the Surete du Quebec.

I have just finished
This book was so hot you need to wear oven mitts to read it! Whoa love triangles and drama everywhere. I loved this book and devoured it quickly.

I've been reading a lot of non mysteries lately. Read and enjoyed
. Now I'm reading
which is as funny as promised. I love Duke and Earl.Next up is
, which I'm a bit worried about, it hasn't gotten great reviews and
. I've also got
waiting since a bunch of my library holds came in all at once. Ooops.

This is one of my very favorite series. Butcher has NEVER disappointed me (well, I didn't care for STORM FRONT too much, but once I was able to get it on audio it was even good!). Not even with the various Dresden short stories that are out there. They're ALWAYS first rate.

Wow, recently finished Still Missing by Chevy Stevens. If you like thrillers, check this out. I finished in one day. Warning though, some very graphic rape scenes.
Finished The Pindar Diamond by Katie Hickman only about a half hour ago. I couldn't stop reading until I had reached the end. It was a good story, despite the sometimes slow pacing, particularly during the first half of the book, but it did pick up once the three different threads started to come together, and I even had to pause a few times near the end because I was all choked up and sniffly with emotion. Can't help but admire an author who can elicit that sort of response. It's not as easy to write as some might think.
This book was, apparently, the sequal to The Aviary Gate: A Novel, which I had never heard of before winning this book from GoodReads. The novel stands on its own quite well; not once did I feel I had missed something by not having read the first book. Still, were I to stumble upon it somewhere, I might pick up the first book all the same.

I loved Gil's All Fright Diner. I wish he had written another book that good, but that's pretty much his best. The ghost, so sweet.

is still one of my all time favorite collections of short stories. It's my go to book on those rare occasions I get homesick. :)
Last night I finished
and it was a great book. If you have any interest in this series, read The Brutal Tellingfirst as this is a huge part of the story in Bury Your Dead which contains spoilers for The Brutal Telling. Sometimes you can read books out of order and they are stand alones but this time it really matters.
I just found a copy of
at a local Friends of the Library booksale. It's about Jewish man who lived as a Muslim prince, even publishing a book in Nazi Germany. He escaped both the Russian pogroms and the Holocaust, and lived an extremely adventurous and unusual life, traveling around the world.I couldn't resist starting this book at once! I'm very much into travel/adventure books and this sounds really interesting. I've barely started and already I'm learning bits of history and geography that are unfamiliar to me.
I've been reading Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series. I read Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness, Traitor's Moon, and Shadows Return. I loved them all. Next up is The White Road.
In between cozies, I usually read thrillers, and Historical romances. I just finished
I'm currently reading
Donna in Southern Maryland
Sabrina, have you read the previous books in Lisa Shearin's series? I read The Trouble with Demons and didn't really care for it, but I didn't read the first two books either. But, I didn't like it in the good sense- it wasn't badly written or dull, it was either I wasn't in the mood for it or not my taste. So, not inherently bad.

Hey, Donna! Nice to "see" you here! One of our members, Caroline, is the one I mentioned to you who has a lot to do with Malice Domestic.
Reading
by Patrick McEnroe. Behind the scenes of the tennis world during the time of Patrick McEnroe's tenure as a player/commentator. So, roughly the era of his brother to the present. I'm positive you have to like tennis to even want to read this book.
Started The Search by Nora Roberts this afternoon. Only about 50 pages into it, so not much happening yet.
Vicky wrote: "Just finished Molokai by Alan Brennert. Gave it 4*s" If you enjoyed this one you should try HONOLULU by this author. It is an amazing tale about the picture brides that came to Hawaii before WWII.
Started The Pillars of the Earth. I'm only about 30 pages in, but it's gripping. You just want to go back and keep reading. I also started Nemesis. One of my favorite historical mystery series. After all of these years, it's stayed consistently good.
Reading
and listening to Everyone Is Beautiful: A Novel. Really liking Everyone is Beautiful. I won the author's latest book (Get Lucky) on a GR giveaway and enjoyed that one as well.

I love the show Criminal Minds and just got a book by Jeff Mariotte - non-fiction
. It's about serial killers and such. Fascinating facts that tie in with the show's profiling of criminals. And yes, I'm on the Board of Malice Domestic. (I'm the hotel liaison) If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know. : )
Oh Bella how is book 2? I liked book one, but I wish there was a little more background as I felt like I was just thrown into her world. I liked it enough to read book 2 though, so I hope it is good.
Finished The Search by Nora Roberts before dinner this evening. Whew! Good book, but at nearly 500 pages I think it could have easily been a hundred less. My elbow hurts from holding it up the last couple days.

I read Magic Bites a few years ago, so I feel a little lost, but its getting better as it did a flashback bit to Magic Bites. I really like Kate Daniels so I'm hoping we delve more into her past too.

About Kate Daniels, I've read the four books and I like the last the less, I don't know not a great feeling. Now, I'm reading
, I'm at the beginning, so I don't know yet.

Kaye: About once a year, she puts out a longer hardcover, but last year's (Black Hills) was not this long, lol. Only 396 pages compared to 488.
Heather L wrote: "Kaye: About once a year, she puts out a longer hardcover, but last year's (Black Hills) was not this long, lol. Only 396 pages compared to 488."That's still a chunkster! Hope you're having a great weekend, Heather. Happy reading.

At the moment I am reading an ARC of REVOLUTION by Jennifer Donnelly and am thoroughly enjoying it.
Fall of Giants is set to be released on Sept 28. I'm still reading Pillars and want to real World first. So, I'm content waiting to get my library copy. So, hopefully somebody will read it and let us know how it is. The ebook was almost $20, so far, so I probably won't buy it.
Just finished
. Definitely not a cozy but an excellent read. I always enjoy Kathy Reichs but have to space the more "intense" crime/mystery books with cozies for my enjoyment. I can get really wrapped up in these things and then need a change of pace.
Talking about long books, I'm reading Hanta Yo: An American Saga by Ruth Beebe Hill, it is over 800 pages. I'm only 352 pages into it and it seems like I have been reading it forever. It is good but long. I'm also reading Power Animal Meditations: Shamanic Journeys with Your Spirit Allies and for a little lighter reading Her Best Friend by Sarah Mayberry. Just received it yesterday through the Harlequin Ambassador program and am over half way through. Good story, I am enjoying it but wish the two main characters would get their act together.
Denise, I'm adding Hanta Yo to my TBR list. Looks great. I have a rule about adding books from GR. If I see it mentioned three times and I get more and more intrigued by the book, I add it to the list. I had to invent a rule because I'm so far behind on my reading I can't just add books automatically.
I have just finished
by Barbara Michaels. I absolutely loved it! I have added some of her other books to my tbr pile, I read this one so fast! I am glad I enjoyed it as I had looked forward to reading it for a long time...
