I just finished The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins for the 2016 Ultimate Challenge. I loved the first book, thought the second was good and didn't enjoy the third. Such a great start and a disappointing finish.

Also a bit closer up the family tree is noted American poet John Greenleaf Whittier. All of this means I need to read my sister's Daughters of the American Revolution paperwork. I can recall going once with my great grandmother to the battlefield at Gettysburg and having her point out on the Pennsylvania monument names of 2 soldiers that died there that are related to that side of the family. I wish I had been older and asked better questions when she was alive.

Loved Mr. Mercedes! Looking forward to the final book in that trilogy this year.

Reading
Lights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath by Ted Koppel. Very interesting.....and scary.
I am with Mark Steyn on climate change too. There are plenty of real challenges to address. I have not read the book but wonder what the agenda is behind this myth?

Finally getting around to reading
and feel like I am plodding through it. Guess I've read so many cozies lately that I want this one to move faster. Doesn't help that I read several books at a time, and keep letting myself get distracted.

The Angel of Darkness right now.

I started
The Good Thief's Guide to Amsterdam on the weekend. It's a nice, short read, but due to not great ratings on GR, I almost didn't start it after I picked it up. So far I'm enjoying it though.

Right now I'm going to start reading
by Richard Rust, it's a biography that I've wanted to read for a while I've just had a hard time finding a copy of it. I'm a huge horse lover so I'll basically read anything with horses in it and this sounds like a really fascinating read, I can't wait to get started.

Gah! How I loved Cress. I think it was my only 5 star read last year.
My current non-cozy reads are: Planetfall
, Legacy
, The Gilded Life of Matilda Duplaine
and a great YA novel through Netgalley
Into the Dim.

The book is not Steyn's opinion on whether climate change exists - of course it does, the evidence is overwhelming. But the premise that global warming has only existed to the degree it does at present because of the industrial age is based on a scientific study that has been proven to be terribly flawed - it is commonly known as the hockey stick. This entire book - via the top scientific men and women in the earth science field on the planet - refutes this study. In fact, evidence is very strong that the world has had significant warming trends in days gone by. Trouble is, after a decade of touting it, passing legislation based on it, and tons of money being made by it, a lot of people are slow to acknowledge the fact it doesn't hold up.
Still reading the Good Thief's Guide to Amsterdam, BUT a hold came in at the library and I had to start it right away: The Republic of Thieves
it's the third in a series of very long books (not quite George R.R. Martin long, but it's going to take care of my book over 600 pages for the 2016 challenge) and I had to start it last night. Also started:The Fate of Mercy Alban
on audiobook.
Currently reading
The House on Tradd Street. It's got hints of a mystery, but I wouldn't call it a cozy. Enjoying it so far.
Interested to see what you think. I really enjoyed Return to Tradd St. and enjoyed the characters very much.
Susan wrote: "Interested to see what you think. I really enjoyed Return to Tradd St. and enjoyed the characters very much."So far, I'm really enjoying it. I also have the second book and will probably get the 3rd and 4th (which is the Return to Tradd St).
Just finished reading
Galaxy Games: The Challengers by Greg R. FishboneI loved this book! I think it's a perfect book for kids. Not only is it fun (and funny) but it also presents a wonderful message of peace and tolerance. There's not just aliens but different cultures and ethnic groups, and very strong girl characters! Sure hope he comes out with the followup.
Beware the Dwobleys!

Just finished:
The first in the Jade Calhoun series.
Now reading
This one is part of my February mini challenge and definitely not a cozy. Did Ed McBain /Evan Hunter ever write a cozy?

Finished The Republic of Thieves
and moved on to another lengthy fantasy Academ's Fury
. I'm listening to this one though.
I love psychological mysteries (more why-dunnit than who-dunnit!) police procedurals, detective fiction, books about language and other non-fiction topics. My top three favorite authors are James Lee Burke, Ruth Rendell, and Elizabeth Peters.I'm currently reading and enjoying these two:

Right now I'm on the verge of finishing
by Lynne Matson, it's a book for the ultimate popsugar challenge but it was also on my TBR list. So far it's pretty darn good.

When you're writing a comment, right above where you're typing is a link that says 'add book/author'. Just click on that. When you get there type in either the book name or author depending on what tab you're on. Right below where you type in the books name you can either choose 'link or cover', if you want to show just the link pick that one, if you want the cover shown then you click on that one. To add the author you just do the same thing. I hope that helps and isn't too confusing.

Almost done with Glory in Death by J.D. Robb. Several of you have mentioned it on this site and I thought I'd give it a try. Now I have a new series to add to the list. Oh, well, I just have to accept the fact that I am NEVER going to get through the TBR mountain.
My TBR gets bigger everyday it seems. I finished 2 books yesterday, but that was a drop in the bucket compared to whats still in the TBR. I read the first In Death book a while back and enjoyed it.
