I read this book years ago...it involves a murder, and a body falling out of a building in New York City during a rainy night. The protagonist, a woman, either sees the body fall or comes upon it as she arrives home. I think she becomes involved with the investigator. I remember she becomes pregnant and the book ends with her out in the countryside...any ideas?? Thanks!

Years ago as in 2001. I spent three years on a boat and read a LOT of books so unfortunately I don't remember the cover :(

Was the setting contemporary times, or some previous decade? Also to repeat Tab's question - any idea if this is a standalone or part of a series with a recurring investigator?

Contemporary (for then) and I think it was a standalone although I suppose a sequel would have been a possibility.
