Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments I have no real opinion as to which day the call is, I am easy with any day.
However, I would like to suggest that maybe we could look at the timing of the call for week 11 only. eg 6am Sydney time (Saturday morning) would be 7pm in the UK and 2pm in New York. (I think). Or even have the call on a Saturday for the last week so Sunday am in Oz.
I understand we are an international group and time zones are difficult but sometimes I feel it is a little unfair to those teams with non North American members in as they are usually asleep when the call comes through. Its usually 10 or 11 pm here in the UK and that makes reading with the first team to finish the winner, really difficult.

Mariana (lyqrycy) | 582 comments I agree, Lisa.

MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most, if not all, of the teams have international members. It usually works out that way.

Thanks Lisa - I can bring the call forward by a few hours in which is what I was thinking of doing anyway, so that is fine, sort of. The more particular issue is that at the moment 6am in Sydney is 5am in Brisbane. (my time). Which is also not a huge problem but I could be a touch delayed since that is pretty much when I wake up at the moment ;) Maybe we could go on the half hour so that I don't make a huge mistake due to not yet being awake!

All for next round but lets keep thinking on it.

And as Kat said, I actually make a solid effort to have international players in every team :D Although if players leave the challenge I can't guarantee that the mix will be maintained.

Interestingly every team in this round has at least one international player. (You are it for your team Lisa :)

message 206: by Chiara (new)

Chiara | 972 comments I agree with Lisa. 6PM EST is midnight for me (I live in Italy), which means I would see the theme hours after it has been published. In the future, it would be nice to call it earlier during the last week. :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Challenge clarification for weeks 10 and 11

I will not accept a team member's resignation, or absence, in the final two weeks of the challenge (weeks 10 or 11).

If for whatever reason a player does not post a selection in week 10, I will not remove them. The team simply will not be able to finish the challenge.

Similarly, a member cannot remove themselves in the final two weeks.

The only event where I will remove a player from the challenge is in week 10 if they have fallen behind by more than 2 books (that is, have three unfinished books when I announce week 11). I will not remove anyone in week 11 for whatever reason.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments OK, if I find out the category on my fire (which is very hard for me to do posting from), can I post my selection tomorrow but be reading it tonight?

Yes - you can start reading once the theme is announced, but you'll need both selection and completion posts in the thread before I can count it finished :)
