Good luck, let us know if you need back up ;-)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments I have always wanted from goodreads a way to show the average rating of a book from a particular club's members. I suspect there are books that get rated much higher by us than the community at large and those are the books I would love to know about.

That mythical type of statistic would be cool to add to this particular account and since it fits with the group I can keep indulging in this particular fantasy

message 54: by Ben (new)

Ben Hickerson | 51 comments if our interested in having the numbers for the group spreadsheet I've run thru the list checking which books were part of a series or not, how many were in the series and what number in the series it was(normally no sequels but there have been exceptions)

Wow, that'll keep me busy when it's slow at work!

Harry Potter is also conspicuously absent from the group shelf, among other notables. Sorry, you'll just have to find new books with us :D."

Strange Parabola of Interest, that's a good one.
Yeah, The Readers Review: Literature from 1714 to 1910 has that with Jane Austen and a few others... Sometimes new people want to nominate Jane Austen, but people who like Victorian-plus literature already read most of her books, which is how they knew liked it, which is why they joined The Readers Review...

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments The spreadsheet has some new stuff! :)

Link: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PfDpe...

There are seven new columns:

Book - link to book page
First - link to first impressions discussion
Spoiler - link to spoiler discussion
More - link to other threads related to this book (mostly for older BOTMs)
Q&A - link to author Q&A (if there is one)
Series - link to (series) buddy read of other books in the series (if there is one)

COPY - this is a formula you can copy if you want to post BOTM discussion links on Goodreads the same way I do, like this:

Nettle & Bone >> First impressions | Final thoughts & More & Q&A
Howl's Moving Castle >> First impressions | Final thoughts & More
The Raven Tower >> First impressions | Final thoughts
Daughter of the Forest >> First impressions | Final thoughts & Series

Select the cell(s) you want from column M (named 'COPY'), ctrl+c (copy) and then ctrl+v (paste) on GR :) You don't have to make a copy of the spreadsheet for this purpose, you can copy from the shared sheet.

Ask/comment if necessary!

edit: I forgot to say that the links are clickable, so you can also find discussion links via the spreadsheet from now on :) (In addition to all the other ways listed in Current Events.)

message 65: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I have been busy! :D But not with this, we already had all this in the mod sheet, it's just been added to the shared sheet :)

message 66: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Umm. One thing. I kinda just realized I should've maybe also added a link to the book page :D It's not a lot of work, but I just closed everything and I don't feel like adding it now, so what I'm saying is that I will add it sometime this week, so if anyone is planning on making a new copy of the spreadsheet, maybe wait until then?

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Book page links added!

message 69: by Anna (last edited Jan 01, 2023 04:36AM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I added pseudonyms* to the AuthorStats sheet. There might be some missing, because they haven't been listed for older BOTMs, but if you notice any that should be added, let us know!

* Or in most cases, the real name of authors who have a book on the shelf under a pseudonym

edit: This is meant to be a resource for those months when the nomination theme is new to shelf authors only.
