As always, read as many or as few as you like. Not all have to be mysteries.

As the memorials have started to commemorate the start of WWI, the Great War or the War to end all Wars...World War I (WWI or WW1 or World War One), also known as the First World War or the Great War, was a global war centred in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918.
In honor of the start of WWI 100th anniversary, read any book set in Europe, that takes place between 1914 and 1918, or has anything to do about the war itself (historical or fiction, about the war or a veteran).

Aug 2 - National Mustard Day first Saturday - Read any book with a predominately yellow cover or spine, or has the word "Yellow" in the title. Any character named "Mustard" would work too. (There are a few Clue books out there, but they are YA.)

Aug 6 - Wiggle Your Toes Day - Read a book with anyone's feet showing on the cover. Bonus if they aren't wearing shoes!

Aug 9 - Book Lover's Day - Reader's Choice :)

Aug 21 - Senior Citizen's Day - Read a book where the main character is 65 or older (roughly, since their exact age may not be specified).

Anne Perry also has a series set during WWI -- I just dug the first book, No Graves as Yet, out of Mount TBR.

This is a good example of why I do not add any book to my "to read" shelf unless I actually have the book. I just skimmed through that shelf in search of yellow covers, that weren't out of order in series I am reading (I hate reading out of order). Came up with about a dozen books. Figures none of them would fit the "summer" challenge as well. :-\

Nell | 1223 comments Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs series also fits the WWI challenge. Maisie was a nurse during WWI.
