SOLVED. Y/A book about a boy and a shark. [s]

I'm looking for a book I read in the early 80's (?) about a young boy who lived in the 'burbs and found a shark egg. If I remember correctly, the egg hatched and the shark flew / floated. I think it was a nurse shark.
I don't remember what year the book was published, nor the name of the boy or shark.
