SOLVED This book is The Emerald City (Osland Trilogy) by J.A. Beard

A friend who read the same book was able to tell me its name.

I read this book in 2010-2013. It was an ebook. It was in engish. The girl starts off on a swim team but after parents die in a car crash on the way to one of her swim meets she quits. She then has to live with grandmother (maybe?) who sends her to a boarding school. There she finds out she can control water she also makes friends that also has magic. Her music teacher has magic singing powers. The guy she likes also has powers and he doesn’t show emotions. Someone has plant powes maybe one of her friends. She has to save prevent or guard something? Keep something from happening? There is a dog statue that they use as a meeting place or something. (view spoiler)[ guy she likes was in car accident and his girlfriend? at the time died and he sold his soul to save her thats why he doesn’t have any emotions.
