Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Here is our "chat room" for our eighth readathon!

I will keep this open even though we haven't started the readathon so we can talk about the books we may want to read during the week of the readathon or to get excited and pumped for the readathon!

Have fun! :)

message 2: by Mehsi (last edited Aug 05, 2014 02:50AM) (new)

Mehsi I will just chat here and cheer for people. Since I won't have time for the 48 hour thing, since I got various things to do this weekend.

Sarah | 1726 comments I just realized I have a feis (Irish dance competition) on Sunday, but it won't take all day and I can read in the car!

message 11: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Glad to see you guys are excited. :)

What are everyone's goals?

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1726 comments Hmm, maybe three books, I also have to do building watch at the fair on Saturday (I thought this weekend was going to be empty >:( lol) but it's 99% sitting there doing nothing, so that's another time to read!

How about you?

message 13: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Well good luck. You can do it! :D

I am hoping for 3-4 books. :)

message 14: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Good luck on your goals, everyone! I'm also hoping to read at least 3, hopefully 4 books.

message 15: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Good luck, Jessica! :)

message 16: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I'm not sure about my goals. I guess that'll depend on how much lesson planning and/or grading I'll have to do this weekend, BUT I'm hoping for 2-3 books. I'll only probably get four done if I do a really short prequel. We'll see, but I'll be happy with good reading time. :o)

message 17: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments That's the spirit! I am sure you will do great. :)

message 21: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Reading Ellen Hopkins will help the # of books and pages read and I just picked up GLASS, so maybe I'll read that this weekend! :)

message 22: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Vicki wrote: "Reading Ellen Hopkins will help the # of books and pages read and I just picked up GLASS, so maybe I'll read that this weekend! :)"

Very true. Her books go by so quickly! They are great for readathons!

message 23: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I just read BURNED and I LOVED it!!

message 24: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

message 25: by Jessica (last edited Aug 05, 2014 07:58PM) (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I want to read Ellen Hopkins books so much! I feel like the only person left on earth who hasn't read one yet! Hopefully I'll get one when I go shopping next week! Has anybody read Tilt?

I haven't read them, either- hoping to, though!

Me either. :)(Or is it neither???) :P

message 28: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Well, you girls should plan an Ellen Hopkins buddy read. Her writing is amazing!

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I'm most likely going to pick up at least one of her books while I'm on vacation next week. Which do you recommend, Vicki? Or anybody else!

message 30: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I haven't read Tilt.

I have read Crank (Crank, #1) by Ellen Hopkins Burned (Burned, #1) by Ellen Hopkins Smoke (Burned, #2) by Ellen Hopkins and one more but I forget which. They were all good! My favorite was the Burned/Smoke duology.

message 31: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I'm curious towards her books as well, they seem interesting, yet not interesting enough for me to pick up. Hmm.

message 32: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Jessica wrote: "I'm most likely going to pick up at least one of her books while I'm on vacation next week. Which do you recommend, Vicki? Or anybody else!"

I've only read Crank (Crank, #1) by Ellen Hopkins and Burned (Burned, #1) by Ellen Hopkins and I loved both but my favorite of the two is Burned (Burned, #1) by Ellen Hopkins

message 33: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (last edited Aug 07, 2014 09:56PM) (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) I almost started a day early! I thought today was the 9th. :O Thank god I caught myself before I started though. :)

LOL. You're too excited! ;D

message 35: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Who's excited?! Less than 4 hours until start!

message 36: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I'm super excited! Will you be starting right at midnight, Jacquelyn?

message 37: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Awesome!

I would love to but I have been at an amusement park all day and have been riding rides all day! My mom has a Fitbit and says that we walked 7.5 miles today! I am exhausted! I most likely won't but I wish!

Are you?

message 38: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Wow, that's great though! At least you had a fun day!

I definitely will be! I was out at a concert really late last night (like 3 am) so of course I slept in pretty late! So I'm prepared to read for a couple of hours right at the start.

message 39: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Yeah, I had a great time. :)

Ooh! What concert? Glad to hear you are ready to start! :D

message 40: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I went to One Direction near Boston!

message 41: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Oh! Cool. I personally don't like their music but I am glad you went and had fun! Hopefully? LOL

What are you starting with?

message 42: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments This is one time I'm glad to be on the west coast because I get to start at 9:00! Not sure what I'm starting with but excited! :)

message 43: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments That is good! It is past 9 here already.

Glad you're excited. I don't know what I will start with either.

message 44: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I got a Jodi Picoult novella so I might start there, but then again I really want to read Slated! I've only had a chance to read 15 pages of Wanderland so now I wish I hadn't! Lol

message 45: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments LOL. I am only focusing on books I own for this readathon so no library books for me.

Enjoy whatever you end up reading! :D

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 1020 comments I have so many books available to read.
I have a ton checked out from the library (most of them because of the book pool), some Netgalley books, some ebooks I'm borrowing, and a few others that I have to read this month!
So, yeah, a lot of options.

message 47: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Fun, fun! Any particular ones that you're thinking of possibly starting with?

message 48: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I'm thinking of starting with Faking Normal! It's not super long so I hope I can get it done in just a few hours.

message 49: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Oh, I finished that in a day so I think it would be great to start with. :) Enjoy!

I MAY start with Bystander by James Preller

message 50: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Ooh, I'd never heard of Bystander but I read the synopsis and it sounds really good!
