Andrew | 2 comments I read this book many years ago. I'm fairly certain I bought it at a grocery store. Here are the key points as I remember them:

* Story is told from the point of view of a B-52 crew.
* Story starts with the crew flying towards Russia.
* Crew gets a valid order to attack their targets.
* They bomb their target and are shot down as they head out.
* They survive the crash.
* They decide to try to walk to the east coast of Russia near the Aleutian islands.
* They are pursued by the Soviet army; a specific KGB officer is tasked with finding them. At some point they steal a train.
* Along the way, several are killed.
* The final 2 manage to take a Russian chopper and fly towards the Aleutians.
* The chopper crashes into the water but they manage to get into a life raft.
* They wash onto an island and are confronted by a US marine.

**I know it is not Flight of the Old Dog.**

I have searched via google, and other tools but can't find the name of this novel.

Andrew, around what year did you read this book? I find "many years ago" can mean different things in this large group.

Some guesses:

- Final Impact by John Birmingham?

- The Moscow Option by Jeremy Duns?

- Parallax View by Allan Leverone?

I read this book in the late 80's - early 90's. It is not any of your guesses. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I've been going nuts trying to remember the name of this book

Andrew is still looking for this and says it's not "Dawn's Early Light" or Joseph's suggestion of Last of the Breed.
