Book Suggestions for the group to read

Thanks for those suggestions! I think that's a great idea to do some public domain books. William: An Englishman was mentioned twice (found at Project Gutenberg), so let's do that in January. And how about Diary of a Provincial Lady for February and then Flush for March (also Project Gutenberg).
As always, feel free to add more ideas to this thread and I'll add them to the list! I've added the other suggestions from Mela and Tania to the list as well.
Diary of a Provincial Lady is available as a Kindle book through Amazon US for 99 cents: https://www.amazon.com/Diary-Provinci...

I’m currently living out of boxes as I’m temporarily in my husbands son and daughter in laws place( he passed away in February) and love being with them but will be happy to have my own place and my BOOKS. 🙂

I'm Mary from Northern Ireland, U.K. I like most genres but thrillers and fiction are my favourite. 🩷📖 Would like new book friends so feel free to add, friend me. I will add back.
Thankyou!
Book suggestion: The perfect Christmas village
Hi Mary. Welcome to the group. I used to live in Dublin, and would often go up to Belfast, but moved back to England years ago.
We read Persephone titles in this group; they are an independant publisher who print neglected books, mostly from 20th century, mostly by women. Lots of fiction, and one or two thrillers; The Expendable Man and The Blank Wall, off the top of my head. There is a list of their books here https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
You might like to take a look and see if you fancy anything from there. We do reread, so don't worry if you would like something we've already read.
We are reading William: An Englishman in January, which is in the public domain, so you can get a free copy from Project Gutenberg here https://www.gutenberg.org/files/53032... or there is a cheap kindle version if you can't get the book.
February is Diary of a Provincial Lady and March is Flush: A Biography, both are also in the public domain.
Hope you like the sound of some of these and choose to join in.

Welcome to our new members!
It's about time to choose our reads for April, May, and June -
Based on past suggestions, and I was thinking we could do:
Manja - April (available for purchase as an e-book also)
The Shuttle - May (available on Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/506)
The Young Pretenders - June (available through LibriVox: https://librivox.org/the-young-preten...)
As always, please let us know what book suggestions you have - add them to this thread and I'll put them on the list!

Greetings!
Based on your suggestions, here are our next few books to take us through the summer/early fall:
July: Despised And Rejected - this one is available as an e-book on Amazon.
August: Fidelity - in the public domain, free e-book on Amazon and Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/32432...
September: Crooked Cross - this is one of the newer Persephones, so I wanted to give people some time to get it.

Hello! It's time to select books for the fall.
I have a list of suggestions from the group - as always, you're welcome to add books to this thread that you'd like to read and I will add them to the list! Tania had the great idea to do a Whipple re-read, those ones are always good for discussion.
October: The Mystery of Mrs Blencarrow
November: The Priory
December: Into the Whirlwind

Spent some time perusing the Persephone book catalogue and found some gems.
A number of authors that I've never heard of.

If there are any that you are keen on, please feel free to add them as suggestions and we can add them as group reads.

I'm woefully behind with some of the other books already mentioned though.

Excellent mystery
Interesting period, setting
Strong characterisation.
Time and money well spent!!
I remember that one as a great read. I loved the setting of it. We read it a while back in the group so there is a thread discussing it which you might find interesting https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
