Persephone Books discussion
Book Suggestions for the group to read
Thanks Karen. I'm really keen to get to this one, I've heard great things and this is just the push I need.

I also have a couple of the books Tania mentioned - Making Conversation, and Wilfred and Eileen.
Looking forward to our next read
I really enjoyed Patience and I'm very glad I finally got to it. Look forward to seeing what the next one will be, and the Biannually will be arriving soon.

Would love to join for Wilfred and Eileen, and Random Commentary. Haven’t got Making Conversation but you never know - Santa might give it to me...

I picked up The Deepening Stream today; I had only meant to get They Were Sisters for Feb's read but I succumbed once there, so I'd be up for a read of that one.

I wondered if anyone here would be interested in a buddy read? Maybe next month or November. I have a few unread Persephones on my shelves including:
Harriet by Elizabeth Jenkins
Doreen by Barbara Noble
There Were No Windows by Norah Hoult
Manja by Anna Gmeyner
The Far Cry by Emma Smith
The New House by Lettice Cooper
The Deepening Stream by Dorothy Canfield Fisher
A House in the Country by Jocelyn Playfair
The Happy Tree by Rosalind Murray
Plus my library has a copy of The Waters Under the Earth by John Moore, which is one of their new books coming out this autumn.

Excellent. Dianne, do you have a preference? I really don't mind. I just thought it would be nice to get back to some of these reads.

That's great news. How about one of Antoinettes picks for Oct, then The Deepening Stream for November? We could read the other one Antoinette has in Jan, December is often too busy for people, but I'd be happy to do one in December if people wish to.

I think The Happy Tree sounds good for Dec/Jan. I will be busy in December and will probably have less time, so will read it in Jan. Veronique and Antoinette both have Harriet, so that looks good for February.

Hi Dianne. I think Harriet was mentioned for Feb, but I can't find where. Does that suit you? Also, do you have some Persephone books that you would like to suggest for later reads, as a group we have always done rereads. ☺

You're very welcome. I'm just glad to have others to read along with, you can get much more out of these books with other peoples insights.

Regarding future reads, I’ll pretty much go with what the majority wants, especially since I have been very bad indeed at actually reading the books chosen. I..." Hi Veronique, thanks for the suggestions.
Hope you are doing ok ? x
