Lists - Not Enough Lists On Here!

1) Art Of Noise - In Visible Silence
2) Bauhaus - In The Flat Field
3) Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish
4) Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
5) ..."
Great minds and all that Blastro! :-)
With regards to Stephen King novels, not read that many only; Christine, IT, Misery, The Shining and my favourite The Talisman co-written with Peter Straub. Not enough really for a list.

1 - 'firestarter'
2 - .........and that's about it. and i notice it didn't feature in your list, blastro, so dunno what that says about it. i did enjoy it (i seem to remember) but never went back - i think i quite like the idea of stephen king without involving myself in the reading bit, i mean in 'creepshow', the quote 'meteor shit' - precious!...........and he likes the ramones. what more?

Both meself and t'other half are King fans and own all but two-or-three of his more recent books (we catch up and then he goes and writes several more and we get behind again. He's a prolific bugger) and apart from Firestarter - which I know for certain I didn't read, there's a couple more,Salem's Lot and Misery that I don't remember reading but think like surely I must have at some point cos I know em pretty well, tho obviously I've seen the films.
You a Creepshow fan Tech? Excellent! Loved that ever since it surfaced (early 80 or late 70s?). What's yer favourite story? I do like em all but The Crate has to be the best o the lot. Great stuff.
Foe - dunno if we discussed this before but yeah, I enjoyed The Talisman. Blackhouse is an excellent follow-up to if ya get the chance to read it. Much darker than Talisman tho.

At least you'll never be alone then!"
Silver lining I guess. : )

Blastro, somewhere on your keyboard you should find a key called 'Insert'. This key toggles between inserting letters in text when typing or overwriting letters in text when typing.
On my laptop I have a separate numeric keypad to the right of the keyboard and the 'insert' function is the '0' key and you must have numberlock (numlk key) off. Just press it once and you should go back to 'insert' mode.
If that doesn't work then I haven't a clue:-)

Many many years since I read those mind. Reckon I got to The Bachman Books before The Stand, which I would imagine would be one of the first visits to new King fans. A bit intimidating tho I suppose, The Stand, as it's not what one would call a short read. Can only think of It that gets near it in terms of length... and quality. Don't reckon the film/miniseries did the book any favours; not a patch on it, at least not as far as I'm concerned.
That's an idea for a list - King films that didn't fare too badly compared with books. Not sure I'd come up with ten tho. Six or seven maybe.

Just glad someone could decipher what I was trying to say! : )
Nice one, much appreciated.

No problem. I only know because I've done the same thing many times myself:-)

The only Stephen King book I've ever read (and I really enjoyed it) was The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon which I think is one of his less popular works. I've recorded The Outsider to watch soon. I'm not a fan of sci-fi/the unexplained but I do like Jason Bateman.

Cheers Blastro, I'm going to read The Talisman again, long time since I last read it and I've got a crap memory, and then try Blackhouse on your recommendation, :-)

Foe - if you read Blackhouse just be warned that the 'bad guy' is one sick basket and there's times where it gets a tad uncomfortable to read. Top class book tho from top class writers; Peter Straub has turned out a few classics in his time too, tho not as consistent as King.

Woah, if the dog farts again like that last one I'm gonna have to exit premises!

Shouldn't it be the little hairy woofer that gets shoved outside!!!
Hmmm? - what a Dog has to do just to get the family out of her face and her space while still stuck under Lockdown, hey? ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>
EDIT ... as it turns out the little hairy Woofer in question is a she and not a he ;o>

Putting her on the yard will make no difference I'm afraid. If she's decided she's not ready (which she isn't or she'd be letting me know) she'll just sit outside the door until soft bugger here lets her back in... and then proceed to part with wind again (the dog, not me!)
I suppose it could be Cujo that's doing it but he's over t'other side of the room while Mollie's right here. Unless he's learnt to 'throw' his farts in the interests of passing the blame or something? : )

"... Unless he's learnt to 'throw' his farts in the interests of passing the blame or something? : ) ..."
Ohhh, I can't stop laughing here!!! - but, you know, I wouldn't put anything past Cujo trying that one. Tia sometimes used to very noisely break Wind, stare accusingly at Mitz, then sneak off out the Room leaving us all laughing while gasping for air! And poor little Mitz would look SO guilty about it that if you didn't know any better you'd have easily fallen for thinking that it really was her!!! ;o>

Sorry Sera! - thanks for trying so valiantly to restore the tone of Thread - LOL!!! ... x ;o>

Only read a couple by RRM, the other being Mine which is also pretty good. Should really check out more of his stuff.
Now I just gotta come up with 18 other writers I've read (that're good books obviously) other than King and McCammon! : )
...oh and Straub.

"... Unless he's learnt to 'throw' his farts in the intere..."
Ha ha I know what ya mean Suze, dogs have that 'What, you mean me?' expression absolutely nailed. Thing is with our Cujo, he has a chair what he can still just about manage to jump up into and, because he's getting on a bit, every time he jumps up into said chair he lets out a little 'parp'. Not sure he even realizes he's doing it but it's like what we're saying - he probably just wants me to think that.

I'm think the majority of the voters were American but I managed to pick my 25 (in the end, took about a week) & I'm surprised to see that 13 of them are in this final list.

http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2020......"
Some real classics on there (including Love Removal Machine and Wild Flower) but no Lil Devil? Bah!

Oh yeh, good idea. I'll add it to my list of theme ideas. I was debating whether to inflict Pitchfork's top 50 shoegaze albums on you all (😈) but the SUE '80s Redux lists might have a slightly wider appeal.

Well you should have voted shouldn't you! The poll for 1988 will be coming up next but it took me so long to narrow down my picks for '87 I don't think can be arsed with the '88 one. Btw The Cult didn't even make my longlist.

Doubt I'd have the patience to even input that kind of stuff."
haha! I didn't input any of that today! According to the stats my membership length is 11 years, 48 weeks, 15 hours, 24 minutes, 9 seconds. I just found the stats page and the lists are all there, as is. No sweat!
At least you'll never be alone then!
