I only know 12 of the 100, though it’s possible I just don’t recognise the titles. I’m even less of a pop person than I thought!

I know 24, Lez, although I'm not sure I'm twice as much of a pop person as you. It's only the surprising number of tracks from Peter Gabriel's So and Billy Bragg's Talking with the Taxman about Poetry that got me up to 24.

Certainly isn't all pop on that list. But, oh heck, I'm familiar with over 60 of them. Think quite a few of them were more well known in America.
Been thinking about doing my own list for '86 but it's almost impossible. I certainly couldn't keep it to just the 25 that they were initially asking for & that's why I didn't bother even contemplating taking part in their poll.
Slicing Up Eyeballs have now opened up the voting for 1987 - http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2020...Vote for your favourite songs of 1987 (a maximum of two songs by the same artist) if you can whittle it down to 25.
Edit: Hmmmm. I could be gone some time...
Edit 2: Arrrgh. Floodland & Darklands were '87, how can I pick just two tracks off each of them. And Diminuendo was '87. And The Mirror Test was '87. And Official Version was '87. Arrrgh! I could be gone some time...

Nah, this one from one of his faves, the Ramones, expresses the sentiment more accurately;

Only joshin', come back soon Tech - all, er most, well some is forgiven.

WAYYY-HEYYY!!! - he's back!!! ;o> ... ;o> ... ;o>Errr? - could I possibly be so bold as to politely ask you as to precisely where on this Arse-kicking Frenzy List I might be placed, tech? ... only if it's before Helen but after Mr B and Nick, then I'll probably still just have enough time to finish my Tea first before I have to start packing!

"Arse-kicking Frenzy List"chief in the armoury of the skilled arse-kicker is the element of surprise!
And now Slicing Up Eyeballs are looking to compile a list of Joy Division songs - they're hoping to rank every track released by them by getting their reader's to vote for up to 10 of their favourite recordings. http://www.slicingupeyeballs.com/2020...
Should be simple enough shouldn't it? Your top 10 Joy Division songs.
Hmmmm, I could be gone some time...
See ... this is why, despite being such a huge fan of endlessly writing out and using Lists, I always struggle terribly with ever having to put anything into any particular order or preference - LOL!!! ;o>

Wot no Radiohead?
absolutely and positively no radiohead, blastro. the effect of thom yorke's whiny vocals is as like a black and decker sander grinding into my forehead............no, not a fan.
... I'm still trying to work out how on Earth Nick reckoned on it being 6 women? ...And just realising that I've been spending far too much time now in keeping on with going back and looking again and again at that image as a result! - LOL!!! ;o>
Actually there's other Brit bands I like as much as or more than Radiohead but they sprung straight to mind for some reason. I'm odd like that. Yes I think our two lists would differ greatly Tech, tho I would agree with a couple you have there. Will have to put up my own idea of UK finest next time I'm not just nipping in on a flying visit.
INPO (Apart from No1 obviously)The Jam
The Who
The Clash
The Stone Roses
The Wildhearts
Manic Street Preachers
Primal Scream
Radiohead
Motorhead
Muse
Changed me mind - top UK singles next as it be a nice mixed bag containing some artists that don't make the above list or my top albums list. Yep I know, y'all can't contain yer excitement!!
Gonna have to be a top 20 tho or 40 even.
Wasn't really thinking that through was I? Top UK singles of all time?? I'd forgot about dance music (How could I?) Would be really tough to pick just 20 or 40 house music tracks... and that's before we start on other sub-genres of dance/electronica. And then there's the other musical genres. And then there's my above list. Not sure Stone Roses should be there off the strength of just two albums, regardless of the greatness of that debut. Not gonna go through the lot but I reckon only half the bands on my 'UK Finest' list would be the same if one was to ask me several times over, say, a month... or even a week!
Maybe it changes with the mood? Or perhaps it was one of my other personalities (Blastronutt or Bonkersnaut?) that chose those - or maybe I just don't got a clue what I speak of, or the courage of my convictions?? Give it a name.
Maybe ya should remove me from your 'List Sorters' Suze? : )
Ok, just so I'm not copping out altogether, here's my top 20 UK albums, one album per artists inpo….Setting Sons - The Jam
Finelines - My Vitriol
The Clash - The Clash
Screamadelica - Primal Scream
Desert Orchid - Crazyhead
The Bends - Radiohead
Ace Of Spades - Motorhead
Unleashed In The East - Judas Priest
Bring It On - Gomez
This Is The Day, This Is The Hour, This Is This - Pop Will Eat Itself
Empire Of The Senseless - Senseless Things
Moment Of Truth - Man With No Name
Kings Of The Wild Frontier - Adam And The Ants
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Voyage To The Bottom Of The Road - Half Man Half Bscuit
Holy Bible - Manic Street Preachers
Origin Of Symmetry - Muse
C'mon Kids - The Boo Radleys
Leftism - Leftfield
Business As Usual - Secret Affair
An eclectic bunch; just missing a bit of opera to top it off...
Fooooook me, thread's do go quiet when I put in an appearance don't they? Y'ought to have a kinda cyber version of a cage for me - like a thread that I have to exist in and can't leave. Folk can get on with their chats then, and just pop in to feed me every now n again.New list coming up, tho I'm not even sure what it'll be about yet...
i have a whole 3 albums on that list, blastro, think i'll respond with a top 20 uk albums list shortly, in the interests of comparison. following the same 1 album per...

Thanks Tech. The Blast-monologuing get's a tad tedious for me sometimes, and while I obviously understand that that is the nature of t'internet, it's nice for it sometimes to go two-way. Probably just another example of my knackered way of thinking; I mean folk shouldn't feel obliged to talk to me just to avoid me having another mard-arse. I guess... I tell thee what - I'll shurrup! : ) Thanks anyways.Yes, my lists will always be a little pop-oriented and I guess that separates me from most on these boards. Wow, d'ya have any idea how long it's took me to accept that I like 'pop' music? Only a few years ago would I take it as a bit of an insult at such a suggestion. Shit, maybe I'll be listening to Westboys and Backstreet Life or whatever next!
If that ever does happen then you definitely have my permission to put me in a 'cyber-cage' or some such. And DON'T feed me!! Put me outta my misery.

PS. That's not to say that you can't sometimes find something worth buying in the charity shop racks. I think I've managed it twice)
Derek wrote: "Blastronaut wrote: "Thanks Tech. The Blast-monologuing get's a tad tedious for me sometimes, and while I obviously understand that that is the nature of t'internet, it's nice for it sometimes to go..."I got a Nina Simone 5CD box set for £3 in Oxfam.
I don't frequent charity shops but on a rare visit I did acquire this (purely for the bonus tracks) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Merciful-Rel.... I think I paid between £3 & £5 for it, can't remember exactly.

The Cult!! How could I forget The Cult? 808 State too. And that Therapy album is mighty fine too. And I already added a Maiden album to my list and changed at the last minute.
Dagnabbit Foe, ya got me wanting to change my list in a few places. Maybe I should leave it as it is else I'd be changing it every time I'm on here.
Ahh-ha! I know!! I shall compile another list, only this time - my top UK albums full stop. No limit on entries per artist...
...and also maybe add in the odd album I forgot about first time.
Actually, that can wait. I'm gonna do one about... wait for it...
… Books!! Yep, knew that would excite folk.
Best Stephen King books to follow....
ItCarrie
Nightmares & Dreamscapes (collection)
The Stand
The Bachman Books (collection as Richard Bachman)
The Dead Zone
The Shining
Doctor Sleep
Everything's Eventual (collection)
Different Seasons (collection)
Insomnia
Desperation
The Regulators (as Richard Bachman)
Dreamcatcher
From A Buick 8
Wolves Of The Calla (Dark Tower 5)
The Institute
Black House (with Peter Straub)
Under The Dome
Cell
Top Twenty from The King. Being as I've enjoyed almost everything he's written, that was quite a tough un. Should really be a couple more Dark Tower books in there and at least a couple more of his collections - seems plain wrong to leave out Night shift and Skeleton Crew - but then it wun't be a top twenty would it? That's how I sees em. At least today anyway.
