1) Lose weight, as I've been sitting on my ass for an eon, waiting patiently to have my vision improved.
2) Re acquaint myself with hiking again...i'm dying to get out and revisit some of my favourite country walks & mountains & get fit again.
3) Take up swimming again - Haven't swum since I was a young man, because of my extreme myopia, because it was a bugger to find my glasses in the baths, when they fell off! I'll be long sighted after the 2nd op is done..hooray! :)
4) Finish all my many projects, currently on hold.
5) Take out a some kind of pension, as I've not ever had one.
6) Visit Scotland again..the land of my ancestors.
7) Start considering the possibility of going independent at last, and find a new home that has more assessable amenities, than where I am currently.
8) Socialise more, with actual human beings!!!!
9) Mibbe find romance at long bladdy last?!
10) Um...….learn to understand how a washing machine works?!
Simple wishes....that roll about upstairs...but with my eyesight improving...I think I may now finally get to do stuff again! :)

Sounds as if 'Life begins", Duke!
Since I had my eyes done, and it sounds like mine were never as bad as yours, it's such a pleasure to see birds properly for the first time. I hadn't realised that glasses, brilliant as they are, don't give you the real detail. The bird feeders in our garden let us get a good view but now, even at a distance, I can easily see the difference between sparrows and dunnocks, just at a glance.
Only downside, I could also see all the imperfections that I missed before (cracks in the ceiling etc) but I've got used to that, enough to slide over them when I want to. ;o)
Enjoy your new self.

Well..they do say life begins in one's forties Isabella! ..I turned 44 last month! I've also noticed the difference without specs...not sure what it is about wearing specs..but some detail is lost, in favour of clarity close up. But I can now detail with my right eye, that I've never seen before...amazing stuff....can't wait to see what my vision will be like when they are balanced again.
A second chance maybe..to finally get to do things that I never had the confidence to do before...I really do need to sort myself out...get a life for myself...and begin preparing for my twilight years, when I get there......hopefully. I guess it's just that a good portion of my life has been wasted because of vision..denting my confidence & these last few years I have pretty much just been coasting along, with not much happening. Perhaps when the 2nd op has been done...I can start to think about my future and get a bit more out life once again...whilst I am still young enough to do 'em! :)

Notes:
Chelsea was given as a present. I wasn't and never have been a Chelsea fan!
Jimmy Osmond - my brother insists I had this. Whilst I can remember some dreadful records I did have (which aren't on this list chronologically), I don't remember having this at all, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Yikes!
Wombles - shut up!!!! I liked the one who was more fond of sleeping than working, lol. Brother had a triple album box set of them, so there! And that's definitely true.
A lot of these bit the dust, as it were, when my dear brother decided it would be a good idea to lie down in front of an electric heater on full power, with a pile of singles (his and mine). A lot of them got warped beyond any use at all.
Do yer worst! 😀

Yes..i heard about that! For a woman of 92...she nevers seems to ever be ill or need any medical treatment till now, unlike the Duke of Edinburgh, who has had mild ailments of one sort or another over the last few years..and recently had a hip replacement op at the age of 97!
I've less then one week to go for my pre op appointment for the left eye...so getting there...slowly! :)

Hmmm.....You're a brave man for admitting owning Gary Glitter records Tim. Granted, my dad had a couple of his records too...which have long since gone....I wonder how many folks still own any of Glitter's stuff, today?
Sends a shiver up my back, to think I used to like listening to his stuff as a wee lad...then learn 20 years later what kind of a man he really is....urgghh. *Shudders*

I shall soon be able to join this exclusive club! Op. 1 on July 13 and Op. 2 on July 20, all being well. We can also add Sr. Monica Joan (Call The Midwife).

so, you've never had any taste then, tim! boom!
1st single owned - the mighty 'lily the pink' - chronology fuzzy after that, genuinely, and not to save any embarrassment.
1st single bought with own money - 'see my baby jive'
didn't own any gary glitter records - I thought he was for the weans - and I was right!...……………………………………………….whit?

edit, no i'm a liar, I bought 'no woman no cry' on 7" when it came out!

I have absolutely no idea what album or single I bought first. I can't even remember all the live acts I've seen. The earliest album I remember having was Captain Beaky & His Band, but I would have been too young to have bought it myself.

first l.p. owned - '40 great hits from the 50s and 60s', on arcade, I think.
first l.p. bought - *lt*n j*hn - 'goodbye yellow brick road' - it was £3.99 from woollies! :)

Bet it still gets a regular, if unmentioned on these threads, spin in the Tech household! ;-)

Whiter Shade Of Pale (who else but)
Sabre Dance ~ Love Sculpture (Dave Edmunds and Terry Williams from Man)
Snowblind Friend ~ Steppenwolf
Living In The Past ~ Jethro Tull
I'd Rather Go Blind ~ Chicken Shack
Guilty Secret
Sugar Sugar ~ The Archies. Was in there somewhere but that may possibly down to my older sister.

I do still like a lot of that glamrock stuff but not GG, as Tech said more for the teeny boppers at that time, but Slade, Mud, Sweet, T Rex, Roy Wood, all very much enjoyed and danced to, great party records
Lonnie Donegan, Rock Island Line/ Battle of New Orleans, probably my MUCH older brothers. Jim was ten years older than me and always bringing home a very eclectic selection of folk, classical, jazz and blues, Terry, I don't recall him being that much into music, My sister Kathleen was Stones, Beatles, Elvis and the like, Mum, Country,Ballad singers 40's/50's, Dad, Andy Stewart and some other Scottish stuff.
What can I say? I'm a nostalgic old fxrt!
