I highly recommend Matthew J. Metzger - he writes trans and gay young guys, and his characters are among my very favorites (Be aware, some are YA, some are very much adult stories.) Top book to start with- try Spy Stuff
Corinne Duyvis! She's bisexual and wrote bi rep in her first book, Otherbound. There's also trans rep and wlw rep in her second book, On the Edge of Gone. (Bonus is her disability rep, too in both books.)
John Goode and Brent Hartinger (and a couple others, but they exclusively write New Adult titles) will always be my go-to authors for gay OwnVoices authors. As for OwnVoices in general, I don't mind if someone is writing a queer character from an outside perspective as long as they are doing it with skill, style, honesty, good intentions, and most importantly, integrity. Certain authors in the adult gay lit field have turned out to not be who they say they are, and that really gets my blood boiling.
Adam Silvera and upcoming author Kosoko Jackson! Kheryn Callender, Anna-Marie McLemore, Tehlor Kay Mejia, Adib Khorram, Juliann Winters, CB Lee, Camryn Garrett, Mark Oshiro.... there are so many QPoC to follow that are often overlooked in favor of white authors. Also, YES Corinne Duyvis! She’s also the first person to coin the term #OwnVoices :)
Thanks for that list - I'm trying to read more POC authors, and CB Lee is the only one on that list I've read.

Linda ~ chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny ~ wrote: "WLW?"Women who Love Women. It's an umbrella term for lesbian, bi, pan, queer, questioning and other women who have romantic and/or sexual attraction to other women. I used it because I don't think it's explicitly stated that the couple in On the Edge of Gone are lesbians.

While a good book doesn't have to be written from personal experience, it's also important to support the authors who are writing from their own LGBTQIA+ experience (own voices) - who do you think should get a mention?
