Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

It's always hard choosing favorites, particularly between the two protagonists, so I'm going to cheat and choose from the secondary characters. I would say that my favorite character is Cilla. She's spoiled but sweet, well-intentioned but clueless, tough but scared, and traumatized but idealistic. I truly enjoyed figuring out what someone in her situation might be like.

On the other hand, Nolan's sister Pat was the most straight-up fun to write. The book can get pretty gloomy, and I think it really needed someone like Pat as a down-to-earth voice and source of humor. She's also one of the only characters in the book who developed entirely on the page rather than as a result of brainstorming beforehand. In chapter three, someone I never accounted for knocked on the bathroom door, and she grew from there.(less)

I had no input on that element of the audiobook, I'm afraid; I don't know why the narrator/producer made that choice for Iris.

It's been a few years since I wrote the book so I'd need to go back to re-read some passages to remember whether I had a specific age in mind, but Iris definitely started hormone blockers before puberty kicked in.(less)
