Task 20.3 - neither of the target phrases contain all of the letters in Hearts On Ice, so that book does not fit this task. Also, if you move this book to another task, please note that there is no paper edition show here with page numbers, so you will need to either get a librarian to add page numbers (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) or get verification in the ebook verification thread.

Task 25.3, option 5 - There is nothing in the metadata or GR description to indicate the setting of High. " REQUIRED: If it is not apparent from the description or ..."

Sandy,

What type of information beyond me saying they are set there should I reference?

Like High, the main character Blake's father is the Minister of Justice in London and the book is set mostly there

And in The Naked Truth Layla is a lawyer in New York, she had charges against her by the New York Bar Association and this book too is mostly set there.

I guess I want to make sure for the future too I know what to put other than the book is set there.

Thank you, Jess

PS - will I need to repost? I can't remember what to do.

The possible words are BLACK SMOKE BAND or ULLADUBULLA ORCHESTRA - neither contains the initial letters of The Alice Network."

Ah, the task had capitalized the word 'either' so I used EITHER BLACK SMOKE BAND for the phrase. I will find another place for this book. Thanks.

Well, how do you know that a book is set in a particular place? There may be references to going to one's house/apartment, or to some other spot that is clearly in one place or another. there might be info in the blurb. There might be a review that mentions the setting.

Provide a reference to the information that makes you know that the book is set there.

And, yes, there needs to be a complete repost.

My Cousin Rachel was first published in 1951, not 1938. Most of the editions have the correct first publication date. I did check a number of sources, and 1951 is the correct date. Therefore, no GO ticket for this one.

One edition states that 1938 was the first publication date - however, that was the first publication date for Rebecca, so presumably this is the source of the confusion).

Artists do not count as authors. See the Rules of the Challenge:

"Only authors that are identified as authors (or a default blank in the author role field), co-authors, or contributors may be used for tasks involving author information. Other roles or functions such as editor, illustrator, artist, translator, introduction, designed by, foreward, preface, assistant or afterword may not be used for author-sourced tasks."

To claim a BB ticket, your post must include the number of pages in the book you read. You have received points credit for the task, but will need to repost with all necessary info for a BB ticket.

Jackie M post 2529

We do not use ebook page numbers in the SRC. See the Rules of the Challenge:

"If you read an ebook, or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition."

The top pb with page numbers for Six Months in Mexico is Six Months in Mexico and it has 204 pages.

Fortunately, you also used the kindle pages for Still Waters and the MMPB La Reine de la Baltique has 480 pages, so your total still comes out >600.

In future, you should be careful not to use kindle pages, since you won't always have a compensating error to balance it out!

Task 25.5 option 5 requires that you "read a book where the protagonist (the main character, who drives the action in the book) has the same first or last name as one of the directors who have been nominated for or won a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical or Best Direction of a Play from 2010 to today."

You appear to be using a director from 1963, which is not within the specified time range. Also, the protagonist of Smiley's People is George Smiley, who doesn't match John Fearnley.

Creynard post 2573

books that exist only in ebook/audiobook form cannot be used for tasks with a specified page minimum. See the Rules of the Challenge:
"ebooks without print editions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. ebooks can be used for specific page number tasks as long as there is a print equivalent that can be used to determine page numbers- see #7 above. ebooks without print equivalents can be used for tasks without specific page requirements, since it is usually possible to "guesstimate" from the word count that a book is at least 100 pages long. Task 25.4 option 3 requires that the book be completely set in the specified place. See post 32 in the help thread. The metadata for Broken Pieces shows California, New York State, and San Francisco as settings.

Task 25.5 has a minimum required page count of at least 600 pages. Books that only exist in e-format cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. See the Rules of the Challenge. Bad Boy's Bard appears to only exist in e-format.

Task 25.6 has a minimum required page count of at least 500 pages. Books that only exist in e-format cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. See the Rules of the Challenge. Fires Of Ballian ] appears to only exist in e-format.

Task 25.7, option 2, requires that the book be set <1900. there is nothing in the description or the metadata to indicate that. Please provide a reference from the book (or from some other source) establishing the time of the setting.
