Wow ok so I wanted some action and heck yeah we are getting some. I LOVED that Eelyn didn’t hesitate and fought against the raiders, even going to save the little one! I am having a little trouble connecting with the characters, but maybe that’s me. I like all the different family dynamics going on... I do like seeing daily life stuff especially in fantasy novels. But I’m kind of getting the same vibe from Eelyn over and over and I hope we can see deeper into her character. I’m loving all the Viking attributes. Also I am HARDCORE Shippig Eelyn and Fiske. We got some fighting which started the book and then has been lacking for a while.
I’m loving the theme about how these enemies think they’re so different but now here characters are realizing they’re the same. (hide spoiler)]

Yes yes yesss I ship it!! I’m so into Fiske and Eelyn. Wow these chapters are a rollercoaster of emotion from fear to intensity to lust. I am so worried something bad is going to happen go these characters before the end. I can’t believe this is a stand alone novel. I can see these characters coming together to fight and I can’t wait! I enjoyed this book. I think the final battle was not as intense and I thought it would be after all the build up. Maybe it was just the straightforward writing style, but I didn't even realize the battle was over and bam it was. I'm so happy about the ending. I'm glad it's a standalone and that we got some extra scenes at the end. Many books just end after a victory and I needed to know how the family dynamics would pan out. I’m glad they managed to do a sneak attack in the wee hours of the morning in order to try and get the number of enemies down so that they might have a better chance of winning in the greater battle...

I’m also curious to know whether they will be able to save any of those that were taken or whether they’ve all been sacrificed at this stage... (hide spoiler)]

It's hard not to hate him as he sits back and allows this to happen. I will say she is one fierce bad@$$ heroine and I cannot wait to see how the story plays out. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So I’m glad th truth is out and she told her father about Iri. I’m worried what they plan to do to Fiske and at the same time I’m so happy for her that her father is alive. One thing I don’t get is this supposed romance happening. I’m just not feeling it. I think because many of the wounds she has are from Fiske, I don’t know I just don’t see anything between them except anger and regret for him kinda stealing her brother. I really hope their two tribes can come together and defeat the Herj and leave their past in the past. No one will be untouched by the wars of their peoples but sometimes you just have to let’s things go and let time heal all wounds, it’s the only thing that can. (hide spoiler)]

No worries Maddison I find this a fast paced read so as soon as u start it, as long as you’re into it, it won’t take you very long 😜

I was so sure that Myra was going to be killed during that battle, super happy she survived. Also, super ecstatic that Fiske decided to stay with Eelyn in Hylli instead of her sacrificing who she is & her home to go with him. I'm really happy that Inge & Halvard moved to Hylli too, so they didn't have to split up.

How he grew to love the family, and they him, and how he just felt in harmony with them. And yes, he may be a traitor to his ancestors and god, but he is in sync with it and it feels right. I can see how Eelyn feels betrayed though. I'm liking how there's no romance! For a while there I thought it'd be between Eelyn and Fiske, but it seems that there's kind of an Alec situation going on, with Fiske in love with Iri while Iri loves Runa (or whatever her name is)? The whole situation with her brother is a bit tricky. So he believes that he was left for dead, but from her point of view, he betrayed his people and has been killing them. Oh and now she's captive and been sold as a slave to his friend Fiske. And her brother isn't even trying to help. Why would he be okay with his sister being a slave? I really don't like this guy..
