When you see this image it means there is some shelf maintenance to be completed: this could be
•adding a book to your shelf,
•checking the edition of the book you have posted against what is on your shelf, and correcting either initial post or shelf.
Post in the Books Read thread to let us know that the discrepancies are fixed.

@ M Veil of Lies: A Medieval Noir your shelf and your post show different editions, can you check please.

@ Teresa Mechanical Magic needs to be shelved

@ Teresa Bloody Aria your shelf and your post show different editions, can you check please.

We're coming to the end of our first week of TT and we are doing great.

We have amassed a healthy 43 books totalling 13938 pages. WOW!

We only need 10 more letters to complete the Unforgivable Curses. Check the Spells Planning tab for what is needed.

Classes are up and running, take a look at the Class Planning tab for what isn't claimed.

We are doing well with BR's. If you are interested in joining a BR, head over to the Request thread, pinned at the top of this thread.

Tri- Wizard tournament is starting soon, we will post more information as soon as we get it.

We are still waiting on Teams for Quidditch, coming soon.

Great 1st week guys here's to next week

We'd like you to check in once a week to let us know that all is well, if only to say hi.
• What are you looking forward to over the next week?
• What is your current read?
• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments My husband is going to be working a lot over Memorial Day weekend, so I’ll be getting a lot of reading done while he’s gone. I’m currently reading Scythe, the 4th HP, and just started Children of Blood and Bone. I haven’t decided if I want to continue with Scythe at the moment. I’ll see if it’ll help us with anything and if not, I’ll probably save it for another time. Too much about death and I don’t think I can handle it at the moment.

Keep up the great work everyone!

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments Checking in!
I am reading Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly , and hope to start
The Leavers by Lisa Ko and The English Wife by Lauren Willig this week. Looking forward to a long weekend for Memorial Day. I had planned to have a garage sale on Friday but now I am afraid of doing all that work just to make a few bucks!

I am currently reading a few
The Sun Sword (The Sun Sword, #6) by Michelle West Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts The Last Madam A Life in the New Orleans Underworld by Christine Wiltz

I should be finished with one today and another by monday. Working on a couple of parings for DADA

message 208: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments I'm working through a few different books:

Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive, #3) by Brandon Sanderson -this one is audio and will probably take me this next week to get through.

The Shimmering Road by Hester Young -doing BR for this one, loved the first book, so I have high hopes for this one. I'm hoping to get through most of this one today.

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly - doing BOM discussion, really curious about this one so far :)

message 209: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments You guys are awesome! Snow, I was thinking about reading Oathbringer. I started it the beginning of this year, but only got 1/4 of the way through. I thought it would be a good idea to binge read the books from the beginning. While all the info was fresh in my head, I was totally burned out by the time I got to Oathbringer. Definitely want to pick it up again, I just don't know when. I've heard the audiobook version is really good :)

It would be so daunting to start from the beginning again! I know it will take me some time to remember everything that happened in the previous book (names especially), but I loved the last book. So much happened that I might be expecting too much from this one ;)

We could pair Oathbringer for transfiguration, the staff she's brandishing could be turned into a snake, broom, rope, oars of a boat. So many possibilities.

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I have a book with a vampire I am reading and was going to pair it with one that has sunshine in the title for defence against the dark arts.

Do you think that’ll work?

message 216: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3330 comments I've got a busy week coming up at least it's a Bank Holiday weekend.

Finishing Dearest Ivie (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #15.5) by J.R. Ward and Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Anne Rice today and tomorrow.
Finishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling at some point this week
Starting and hopefully finishing Blood Vow (Black Dagger Legacy, #2) by J.R. Ward this week. Spot a theme 😉
Then going to try Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly

Whatever it works for ;) I think this was originally going to work for Arithmacy, but it seems as though we have some big books we're all reading :D

Fandury | 310 comments Spend the day lazy and reading mostly.

Tomorrow is a bank holiday, so another day of laziness.

We have some internet issues in the moment, but they hopefully will be solved next week.

I will start to read now The Pearl Harbor Murders (Disaster, #3) by Max Allan Collins and The Haunting of Rookward House by Darcy Coates and then will see what fits my other challenges

message 223: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments I was hoping these would work for DADA

The Ultimate Werewolf about the creature

Sharon (sharon_alexandr) | 544 comments I'm going to try to get a ton of reading done this week. I have a bunch of library books out that are going to be due soon and next weekend I know I won't be able to do any reading with the Memorial Day holiday. It's a really big deal in our town with BBQs and cookouts every day. My husband and I live on the parade route and usually host a big BBQ on the actual holiday. Lots of prep work!

message 225: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments So, I finally am getting a chance to look at the classes and I have some books that I've been wanting to read that would work for the classes :)

The Redbreast - Potions: Red in title & on cover
Nemesis - History of Magic OR Potions: Salamander blood
The Devil's Star - Astronomy

I was also thinking of doing the Fire-starting spell for Charms because I want to read either Firestarter or A Clockwork Orange, but not sure what I would use for before the fire since both covers feature fire on a person's face. Should I find a cover with just a person's face on it or should I find a cover where there's a campfire with no fire or just anything that doesn't have fire on it?

message 226: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments Checking in!

Over the next week I'll be working on War Storm and The Good Daughter (the latter of which is a Buddy Read going on right now).

I may try to get through Leah on the Offbeat as well since I have it out from the library but it's due back on Thursday. I was trying to hold off because I know it was one of the potential BOM for June, but I don't think I'll be able to do it in June (LOTS of holds on that title, so if I don't read it before it's due back, I won't get it for a few more months) -- so we will see on that one!

message 227: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3330 comments I've slotted books into Class Planning, We've got a good few marked. Samantha I'd be tempted to go with Firestarter and pair It with a face on the cover, if anyone has got one please shout out.
If you wanted to also read A Clockwork Orange we can use it for potions.

message 228: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Do you want just the face or can it have a body too?

message 229: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments Theresa, it probably needs to be just the face because that’s what is on my cover. Check out the link to fire starter to know what the cover looks like.

message 230: by Hannah (last edited May 21, 2018 02:03PM) (new)

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments Hello all, I am checking in. Still reading Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1) by Tomi Adeyemi but my husband has to work overnight tonight so I will definitely have more reading time than usual. I'm hoping to make some better headway. I am also reading We Are Legion (We Are Bob) (Bobiverse, #1) by Dennis E. Taylor .

My work got crazy busy all of a sudden and our weekends in May are filled with weddings and other day trips that left little in the way of reading time. I will pick up the pace though. I'm frustrated I haven't finished anything yet. I think after Children of Blood and Bone I might do some shorter books to accomplish more.

History of Magic is a creative task, we need 7 books (any Genre) and need to complete an essay using the titles. If you want to read for something specific have a look at: Potions, charms, Transfiguration.
