This is exactly how I felt afterwards. Even though he really annoyed me in this book, I somehow or other found myself immediately adding the next book in the series, in which he is the hero, onto my To Read list.

I've just started this book over the weekend and am now on chapter 3. I find Lily's behavior beyond extreme for the era but I'm hoping there will soon be more backstory to explain her behavior.

Yeah, she's a little annoying in the beginning. I do remember enjoying it more from about the half way mark.
