MC was a girl that could talk to plants and she may or may not have had green hair (I might be getting it mixed up with another book).

At first, she lived with her grandma then something happened and she moved to some island or something.

In the beginning, there was a bit about the landlady and she hated snails so MC had a bottle of seawater. <- not so important to the main storyline

SPOILER (maybe)




There was this important (possible all-healing) cherry tree that was part of some test that she passed. She wanted to bring some to her grandma but it wasn't supposed to leave the island. so she had to make a choice and she chooses not to take it.

I don't believe so... I don't think she had parents, only her grandma, and if she did it maybe was revealed later in the book...

I believe it was more childrens novel rather than YA.

I found this thread looking for a different book, but I did just minutes ago find this book that I was also searching for. It's called Fortune's Magic Farm and it's by Suzanne Selfors
