I’ve been a member awhile and there’s always lively interest and encouragement.

Persuasion. I'm reading that this month, hopefully starting it in about a week.
Mansfield Park
North and South (Zaara and I have arranged to buddy read this starting 20th July so people are more than welcome to join us. There isn't a thread set up as before this last few weeks we were unsure as to whether we would be allowed to have a thread on this group.
I'm also hoping to get to The Count of Monte Cristo but I don't know whether there will be time. I suppose it depends if there is interest to buddy read that this year.

Haha I was going to mention this group as well. I'm also a member and its the reason I'm reading Persuasion this month :-)

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
David Copperfield by Dickens
The Old Curiosity Shop by Dickens
Great Expectations by Dickens
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
Any Jane Austen novel
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Silas Marner by George Eliot
Howards End by E M Forester
I can easily get others from the library, so I will be happy to join when they catch my interest.

And I wish I could reread Persuasion this month but I think that would be stretching myself too much.

We're trying to keep this low pressure and pick the books closer to the date so that we can read what we're in the mood for at the moment, and also go with what people have on their shelves or in their TBRs.
So we're not planning on making this thread redundant by mirroring the reading lists from other groups, but if you are planning on reading something soon post it and see what people feel about it.

On the Bronte's I haven't done Vilette or The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
Of the Dickens I believe Great Expectations and Old Curiosity Shop is missing for me. Everything else above I have read.
I would highly recommend Trollope or Austen for those who haven't ventured in to them
Anyone for George Elliott?

My current TBR list includes these
East of Eden
Rodion Raskolnikov - Forbrydelse og straf 1
The Count of Monte Cristo
The Idiot
Of Mice and Men
The Call of the Wild
Buddenbrooks: The Decline of a Family
EDIT: I'm hoping to do at least 6 classics a year going forward. Anyone wants to join in the above (besides East of Eden, which is just a question of when)?

Vilette - C. Bronte
by J. Austen:
Emma
Sense and Sensibility
Mansfield Park
Northanger Abbey
Persuasion
by Anne Bronte
Agnes Grey
The Tennant of Wildfell Hall
and Silas Marner by G. Eliot
I would be willing to BR any of the above
also @Lundos
if you decide to read Of Mice and Men and the Jack London book I'll gladly reread them with you. They are among my all time favourite.
If you guys decide to set up a BR for East of Eden or Count of Monte Cristo I'll join for that one also. So let me know. :)

Yes, I have, also Middlemarch. Would like to read The Mill on the Floss, Daniel Deronda and Adam Bede.
I'm excited, we're throwing out some great options here! I can't wait for our discussions on these.
I'm thinking that the end of the month may be a good time for scheduling our reads, since people will be finishing up their other BRs scheduled for that month (maybe). So somewhere in the third week we'll make our choices on which one(s) we're in the mood for and schedule them. What do you think?

Down and Out in Paris and London
Coming Up for Air
The Collected Works of Jules Verne: 36 Novels and Short Stories

And I would also like to set down a few titles in the hope of getting a BR for them this year, because I'd really really like to read them.
The Moonstone
Allan Quatermain
The Phantom of the Opera

Heck,I'm not complaining.
I'll read Villette with you, @Yani and Dickens with C.P.
I think Manju (Team Satan) and I both have Anna Karenina on our TBR for the year.
And as she says, Hailee and I already have a BR for North and South set up for July 20. If there's enough interest perhaps we could make that the July book and not double up on threads?
Also Angela (she asked to remind her closer to the date) and I had talked about a Name of the Rose read in August. So there's one definite yes and one firm maybe for your chalkboard, Yani.
I dunno how well poetry lends itself to a BR...I reckon ppl here may be shy? to talk about poetry. Certainly it lends itself to discussion.
Just bought Lark Rise to Candleford but I'll be ok to go thru it alone. Let's go with the books that generate most interest.
Shoutout for Beste and Siobhan to come here. I hope they see this.
I think that the stars may soon smile on that Mockingbird re-read....

Ones that are not listed which are favorites of mine.
The Moon Is Down Steinbeck
To Kill a Mockingbird Lee
Crime and Punishment Dostoyevsky
Knock On Any Door Motley
In Cold Blood Capote
Animal Farm Orwell
A Separate Peace Knowles
The Moon is Down is perhaps the most underrated classic ever IMO. The most overrated, preparing to be burned at the stake, is The Catcher in the Rye. A close second is On the Road. The funny things is especially in my youth I should have loved these having a rebellious streak but I found them both trite and boring.

Of mice and men by Steinbeck
An inspector calls I think this is a play but this is a well known piece of work and the author was from Bradford
Crime and punishment- I haven’t read it but I the premise of the book had inspired the plot of my short film script
Karmazov brothers by Dostoyevsky
Time machine by wells
Modern utopia by Wells
We
War of the worlds by wells
Around the world in eighty days by Verne
Brave new world by Huxley
Picture of Dorian Gray by Wilde
Metamorphosis by Kafka
The trial by Kafka
War and peace by Tolstoy
My list of books I want to read so far

Haven't heard of it but the given GR synopsis reminded me The Great Gatsby.

We were planning on trying to do one a month, I believe, but whoever wants to could obviously do more if it fits their schedule.

Ahhhhhhhh I would have loved to join you but I am reading 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! books already at the moment and my stress levels would explode if I added another until I had at least finished one of them but preferably two

Come on Hailee. Just one more. You can do it.... ;)

Of course I'll join you lovely. 😘
Now where's that thread?!
@Hailee - You can do it girl! 5 or 6? What difference does it make? You're anyway swamped. :)

For now, I am just thinking about starting Mansfield Park with Zaara and Manju wants to read Age of Innocence these days - both impulse reads as Zaara said. :) Would you like to join any of them?
Also, if you have any suggestions of other classics you'd like to BR - post the list here.

Don't really have suggestions but I trust your taste, I might join if you on both although Mansfield Park seems to be really long (for something other than SFF ) so it would probably take so much of my time if it's anything like a classic classic :))
19-21 May is free of books for now, let me know when you decide :)
