I reads these in 4th or 5th grade. Large farm family, mostly girls. I remember one scene in one of the books where the we’re helping their mom make donuts before church. Another one where they are having a picnic the youngest screamed and said “an ant went in my crack!” And everyone was mildly horrified and giggling thinking it was her nutcracker but it was the crack in her bent knee (no idea why that scene of all scenes is sticking with me. The books were pretty thick, the ones I read had a plane dark green cover.
