YA? book. Three orphaned girls, one named Bridgette, the other is disabled. Read around 2000. Possible Spoilers ahead.

I am looking for a book I read in 2000 or so. Possible spoilers ahead. It was about three "sisters" who were not biologically related but were orphaned by their mothers and grew up together in the home of an older woman. It takes place in two time periods, when the girls are young and when they are older. I do not remember the country it takes place in but it is not America- possibly Germany. Here is what I remember about each sister:

Bridgette- her mother is poor and trashy. She grows up to be an alcoholic and a mess. She has a baby.

Sister One- do not remember the name, possibly Anna. She grows up to be very put together, likes things perfect, is married I think.

Sister Two- she is disabled, I think paralyzed from the neck down. She can "travel" via animals and I think possibly humans towards the end. She goes into a trance like state and can travel through birds, etc. She uses this ability to watch her sisters. She is in love with a man in her life, possibly her doctor.

I don't recall much about the ending. Any help would be appreciated!
