Takes place in America. About children saving money to buy an oven/stove. There is a scene with them clam digging on the beach in the early morning. They intended to sell the clams to make money to buy the oven/stove for their mom. I thought it was called the Hundred Nickel Oven or the Hundred Nickel Stove. Early on in the story, they figured out how many coins (pennies? I thought it was nickels) they would need to save up to buy the oven/stove.

I left the book at the beach by accident decades ago and never got to finish it. It had won some sort of award(s). It might have been a Newbury Honor Book.
