I tried that with other books and it works but not this book. When I click on the word 'likes' it doesn't do anything. But the link you posted did work so I checked and it is the real Kathy Garver. That is awesome. I loved her on Family Affair.

Karin | 788 comments Yes, I've been absent here--I haven't been reading biographies or memories lately. That said, I'm going to read one by Cicely Tyson soon, so hopefully will be back after I read this.

Good to see you Karin. You can always post a review on the What Are You Reading Now Anything Goes Thread.

Yes, I realize that, but I am in too many groups and it's hard to let go of most of them! So I tend to come here when I'm reading biographies/memoirs etc right now. I don't want to let go of this one, either, but one of these days when I'm feeling strong I'll get rid of ones I will never really participate in again.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments ha I let go of all the others I was in and hardly posted in so this group is my ONLY Goodreads group and you can probably tell as I post here the most.

Though I don't post every single thing I'm reading, because I think that would just overwhelm everyone (and be too much work for me). I don't post all the picture books I read at school for example. Have my own library website for that!

No problem. I appreciate all participants.

I understand. I have another group here that was the first group I ever joined back on Shelfari back in 2013 (when I started doing book sites,) one of the mods is along time on-line friend (nearly 20 years) and so that's one of my main ones. I am quite sure that I know Koren from Shelfari but it's been six years since that site closed so things are getting a bit muddied now. But sometimes I get caught up in different things and for some months I've been neglecting a few groups I used to go to a lot for a long time due to being busy.

Plus I joined a lot during the covid shut downs.

That's what I thought, and it's one of the reasons I first joined here.

In any event, so far I like the biography I'm finally reading (after a long break in them)--well it's an autobiography, but I have another I am planning to read as well, so perhaps I'll get back on a roll.

Fishface | 2008 comments On this, the 50th anniversary of the Watergate burglary, I'm adding a bio of the Watergate hotel itself to the shelves here, The Watergate: Inside America's Most Infamous Address.

Funny that this anniversary falls right into the middle of the Watergate II January 6th hearings.

Kit | 93 comments Does anyone know any autobiographies or memoirs by people who grew up with autistic parents?

Try Small Fry: A Memoir by Lisa Brennan-Jobs

Dad was Steve Jobs, and Koren reckons he had aspergers traits. Her mum was a hippie. They split up, but she had some moments with her dad where she had no clue how to be with him since he was often in his own world. For example, he never had a sofa cos he thought he didn't need one. But to Lisa, having a sofa was what 'normal' families had lol.

Kit | 93 comments Thanks, Selina. I will make a note of that one.
There seem to be a lot of memoirs by people with autism and by parents raising children with it. But I am interested in people who grew up with autistic parents.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments It seems to me Temple Grandin's dad may have had autism and she inherited a lot of his traits. Apparently he had a temper, but he wasn't around for much of her childhood, and her parents split when she was 15.

I always wanted to know what her relationship was like with her dad but she actually never wrote much about him at all.
