Hello Gary, so sorry to be a bit late. Had to go to Ohio for my mother's funeral and am having trouble getting internet to work at the hotel here. Anyway, I am not familiar with your choices so I decided that since my son is in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor, I would choose Aloha Lagoon for you. It looks like it is an ongoing one for you so good reading. Jeanne

Thanks so much for this choice. Here was one of my favourite characters. Anxious to see what his superiors have in store for him. No good I'll bet.

Thank you very much, Meg. It was really a blessing. She was 98 and had been failing for some time. Although I don't think anyone is really prepared to lose a parent, she went peacefully and without pain, which is all both she and I could ask.

Thank you for your kind words. Although it was sad to lose her, it was really a blessing. She was 98 and had been failing for some time. We were both fortunate that she went peacefully and without pain, except that she lived (and died) some eight hours away.

My younger brother died last year from a very rapid version of ALS 2 months later my mom died at age 88. Her service dog died about 3 weeks later. They are all in a better place and no longer in pain or suffering. We are coming up on the 1 year anniversary of their passing. Reading got me through it then and will get me through the 1 year mark.
98 is a good long time. I think my dad is aiming for 100 as he will be 93 in May.

message 80: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne (oldemill) | 204 comments So very sorry . . . so many deaths, so short a period of time. I am sure that reading will get me through as well.
Here's hoping your dad makes it to 100. My grandfather (actually my 98 yo mother's father) was hoping to be the first in his family to make 100, but he died at 99 1/2. Several family members have been close (including my mother and her sister) but no one has made it yet.

That is an awesome long time, 98! And your grandpa at 99 1/2. I'm happy for her that she had a peaceful passing. My mom had her 90th bday this Jan, unusual for her family.

message 82: by Suranjana (new)

Suranjana | 47 comments I'm sorry for your loss Jeanne.

But you know what, you guys are so lucky. Both my grandparents died around 70 years age. I would have given anything for them to live at least 10 years more. Moreover, my Grandpa had Alzheimer's disease, so his last 5 years were horrible for us. He didn't recognize any of us...
I wish your family members all the very best. They would definitely make 100. 😃😍
