Hi Emma. Welcome to the group. I hope you will have as much fun here as I do. Challenges are a great way to motivate you to read more.

And Wales is such a beautiful place to live. I was there on holiday once, years and years ago, and it was a beautiful country. Always wanted to have another UK holiday, but somehow something always gets in the way.

Welcome to NBRC Angelique!

Since you like fantasy, if you are planning to read (or already have read) Sorcerer to the Crown, it is one of the Books of the Month for July, and the group discussion starts next week (see this thread in case you're interested).

Just a warning - joining this group tends to dramatically increase the list of books you want to read.... You might need that bigger house quite soon ;-)

Ray (user2637) (hugpete) | 1521 comments Welcome Carmen – Love the username, haha. I have a pal who shares your b-day! What kind of dog do you have? I’m the auntie to a whippet, a dachshund, and a chocolate lab.

Welcome Nora –Woo-hoo, sci-fi! I recommend Nancy Kress; really thoughtful speculative sci-fi. You should check out the Novel RPG for fantasy reading fun.

Welcome Agnieszka – Happy belated birthday! I hope you found something fun to do. Yummm, pasta! I’m a quarter Italian so I can smell pasta a mile away, haha. Happy reading.

Welcome Tamara – Aw, no sci-fi!? Alas. I can get down with mystery and suspense though. Do you like the ‘cosy’ mysteries?

Welcome Jeffrey –Sorry about your bunny. :( I love bunnies but my partner is allergic. Or at least, he SAYS he is, haha. Hope you find some fun challenges here.

Welcome Emma – Have you read Horns by Joe Hill (Steven King’s son)? It’s really good, and horror! What kind of fur baby? *crosses fingers for adorable puppy that you will post a pic of* LOL

Welcome Alex – Sorry you’re feeling lost. :( I’d scan the main page and see if there are any books that are interesting to you in subjects of threads. If so, click through and see what’s going on! Good luck! There are tons of nice people here, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Welcome Julianne – Ooh, your birthday is soon! And the day after my housemate’s b-day. :) I love chocolate too, hehee.

Welcome Angelique – For horror, have you read Horns by Joe Hill? It’s kind of amazing. Hahaha, teenage boys as ‘pets’. Hilarious!

Welcome Austin – DOGS!!! I love all the dogs. Yay dog lovers! Have you read The Art of Racing in the Rain? Gooood. I’m in Cali too! Central Coast, by Santa Cruz. :)

Welcome Alex! I love dachshunds! My parents used to have dachshunds. They are so cute.

Welcome Emma! If only there were more hours in a day to read!

Welcome Julianne! I skipped most of the Classics, but am planning to read a few this year.

Welcome Angelique! I'm from the Netherlands as well.

I recommend starting with one of the yearly challenges (like the Author Alphabet or New to U Authors) so you have some extra time to get the hang of it... There are also monthly/seasonal challenges that run for a month or a few months and those are usually a lot of fun.

Welcome everyone!

Just in case anyone didn't sign up for Wobble, but is interested, we have room for a few new players. The challenge still has about 13 weeks to run and does require active goodreads usage (checking in with your team every few days at least) and requires everyone to read a minimum of one book per week.

You can read more about it and sign up here

Mackey (mackeylee) Hi - I'm Mackey aka M'Lee here at Goodreads.
My birthday is June 14, a Gemini through and through.
There is positively no way to choose a favorite book - that is like choosing a favorite child. I do love most genres but my favorite is Nordic Noir Crime and/or Mystery.
I tend to divide my favorite authors by decades ;) but truly they are Kurt Vonnegut, John Steinbeck and Khaled Hosseini. The others come and go.
My favorite colors are sea green and orange, my favorite food is Mexican (not Tex Mex) and I have tons of furbabies whom I adore.
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Norway, Sweden, somewhere cold and intelligent.
I know I'm a book addict because....hello? I wouldn't be here if I wasn't.

Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because.... everytime I see a book sale - online or in person - I have to look and usually buy even though I have hundreds of unread books in my kindle, nook and on my shelves.

It does look like a really fun group though and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Beth (girlpuck) Hello Group!

I've been on GoodReads for a few years now, but was never active community-wise. I really just liked to use the shelves as a way to keep track of my reading and my library. I've starting to think joining in on this sort of group will get me back to reading more actively, as work and other parts of life have gotten me away from it in recent years.

As for the about-me introduction:

Birthday: June 27th.
Favorite Book(s): Possibly 'Castaways of the Flying Dutchman' by Brian Jacques, or 'American Gods' by Neil Gaiman. That's such a hard question.
Favorite Book Genre: Fantasy
Favorite Author: Brian Jacques
Favorite Color: Brown
Favorite Food: Curry
Any Pets: None. I did own a few hamsters growing up though.
If I could live anywhere in the world it would be: Newfoundland - right where I am. I love travelling, and visiting other places, but I've never wanted to move away from home.
Finish the line: I know I'm a book addict because I'm starting to think about owning a house, and I want it to have a library in it.
